Chris Rock Reveals He Was Recently Diagnosed with Nonverbal Learning Disorder

Chris Rock is opening up about his being diagnosed with a learning disorder.

After a nine-hour series of cognitive tests earlier this year, the 55-year-old actor was diagnosed with nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD). In an interview with THR, Chris says that the condition means he has challenges interpreting nonverbal signals in social situations.

“And all I understand are the words,” Chris said of frequently understanding things in their most literal meanings. “By the way, all of those things are really great for writing jokes — they’re just not great for one-on-one relationships.”

Throughout the majority of his life, Chris wrote off his condition, not fully understanding how it affected his daily life.

“I’d always just chalked it up to being famous,” Chris said. “Any time someone would respond to me in a negative way, I’d think, ‘Whatever, they’re responding to something that has to do with who they think I am.’ Now, I’m realizing it was me. A lot of it was me.”

Now, Chris commits to seven hours of therapy every week, while also processing childhood traumas.

“I thought I was actually dealing with it, and the reality is I never dealt with it,” Chris added. “The reality was the pain and the fear that that brought me, I was experiencing it every day.”

Chris recently did this for the first time at 55!

Chris Rock's 'Fargo' Season Finally Gets a Premiere Date!

The upcoming fourth season of Fargo, which will star Chris Rock, has finally been given a premiere date!

The show was scheduled to premiere back in April, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now, FX is ready to premiere the season on Sunday, September 27.

Back-to-back episodes will air on the premiere night. New episodes of the series will be added to FX on Hulu one day after their premiere on the cable network.

In 1950 Kansas City, the fourth installment of Fargo centers on two criminal syndicates who are fighting for a piece of the American dream and have struck an uneasy peace. Together, they control an alternate economy of exploitation, graft and drugs. To cement their truce, Loy Cannon (Rock), the head of the African American crime family, trades his youngest son Satchel (Rodney Jones), to his enemy Donatello Fadda (Tomasso Ragno), the head of the Italian mafia. In return, Donatello surrenders his youngest son Zero (Jameson Braccioforte) to Loy.

Also starring in the new season are Timothy Olyphant, Jason Schwartzman, Jessie Buckley, Ben Whishaw, and more. Production will resume on the series later this month!

Jimmy Fallon Addresses Blackface 'SNL' Sketch, Reveals What 'Haunted' Him

Jimmy Fallon addressed his 2000 Saturday Night Live sketch that resurfaced last week where he was seen wearing blackface to portray Chris Rock.

On the Tonight Show on Monday (June 1), Jimmy began the show saying that it would be “a different kind of show.”

“That’s where we all need to start, with ourselves and looking at ourselves in the mirror,” Jimmy said. “I had to really examine myself in the mirror this week because a story came out about me on SNL doing an impression of Chris Rock in blackface. And I was horrified. Not of people trying to ‘cancel’ me or cancel this show, which is scary enough. The thing that haunted me the most was, how do I say I love this person?”

“I respect this guy more than I respect most humans,” Jimmy continued. “I’m not a racist. I don’t feel this way.”

“I realized that I can’t not say I’m horrified and I’m sorry and I’m embarrassed,” Jimmy added. “I realized that the silence is the biggest crime that white guys like me and the rest of us are doing, staying silent. We need to say something. We need to keep saying something. And we need to stop saying ‘that’s not OK’ more than just one day on Twitter.”

He welcomed President and CEO of the NAACP Derrick Johnson as one of his guests, and admitted he “needed to get educated.”
