Ben Platt Opens Up About His Sexuality, Drops New Music Video Starring Charlie Carver

Ben Platt is getting candid about his sexuality and opening up about the men he has dated in a new interview to promote his debut solo album.

The 25-year-old Grammy and Tony-winning entertainer will be releasing his album Sing To Me Instead on March 29 and he says the songs represent his life.

“If I was going to write about people I loved, I wasn’t going to pretend they weren’t men just because I hadn’t talked about that before,” Ben said in an interview with People.

Ben came out as gay at age 12, but this marks his “first opportunity to represent my relationships and the men that I’ve loved. I only wanted to take this leap if I was going to present every part of myself.”

The music video for Ben‘s song “Ease My Mind” was just released and actor Charlie Carver plays his love interest.

“When we were conceptualizing this sort of loose narrative that we wanted to connect through the videos, there was not really any moment where we had to decide it should be about me and a man as opposed to anything else because it was just, ‘We’re going to represent what this was inspired by,’ which was this man that I was in love with. So it was really a no-brainer,” Ben said.
