'Nashville' Renewed for Season 6 by CMT

Nashville has officially been renewed for a sixth season on CMT!

Hayden Panettiere and Charles Esten confirmed the news in a video that they filmed on the set of the current fifth season.

It was also announced that the second half of season five will begin airing on June 1. The mid-season finale showed the characters trying to heal after the death of Connie Britton‘s character Rayna James.

Nashville is officially back!

The season five trailer for the show, which is transferring from ABC to CMT this season, just debuted. The trailer promises some drama with Rayne (Connie Britton), Deacon (Charles Esten), Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), Scarlett (Clare Bowen), Gunnar (Sam Palladio), and more!

The two hour season premiere is set to debut on Thursday (January 5) at 9 PM on CMT. In a special treat for fans, CMT will air the first hour of the two hour premiere on December 15 at 9 PM.

Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere & More Returning for 'Nashville' Season 5

Nashville has been confirmed to return to CMT for season five, and now we have a list of the returning cast members!

Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere are both set to return for the 22-episode season, TV Line has learned.

Also set to appear on the show are Charles Esten, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Lennon Stella, Maisy Stella and Chris Carmack. Will Chase and Aubrey Peeples will not be back as series regulars at this time.

The show was cancelled by ABC last month.

'Nashville' & CMT Are Close to a Season 5 Renewal Deal!

This is super exciting news for Nashville fans – CMT is very close to renewing the show for a fifth season!

The beloved series was canceled by ABC after four seasons and the show’s studio, Lionsgate Television, has been shopping it around to other buyers.

Variety reports that “it looks like Nashville will be saved” by the country music network. While the ratings for Nashville weren’t up to par for ABC at the end of season four, if CMT brings in the same numbers, it will be big for the network.

It is expected that the network will announce the renewal during the CMT Awards on Wednesday night (June 8), according to TV Line.

'Nashville' Being Shopped to Other Networks After Cancellation

Fans of Nashville can keep a little bit of hope as the show is being shopped around to other networks in hope of getting another season!

ABC announced on Thursday that the show had been canceled after four seasons, but now THR is reporting that Lionsgate, the studio that produces the series, is looking to keep it alive.

It is being reported that season four ends with a major cliffhanger, so we definitely hope the series gets a second chance and a fifth season!
