Matt Damon had an emotional moment at the premiere of his movie Stillwater at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.

The 50-year-old actor and Oscar-winning writer walked the carpet with the film’s team on Thursday (July 8) in Cannes, France.

Matt was joined by co-stars Abigail Breslin, Camille Cottin, and newcomer Lilou Siauvaud, as well as director Tom McCarthy.

Stillwater follows a father (Damon) who travels from Oklahoma to France to help his estranged daughter (Breslin), who is in prison for a murder she claims she didn’t commit. The film will be released in theaters in the U.S. on July 30.

The movie received a five-minute standing ovation from the Cannes audience and video footage shows Matt tearing up during the emotional moment.

Elena Lenina made a major statement with her hairstyle at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival tonight (July 7)!

The Russian and French actress hit the red carpet for the premiere of Tout S’est Bien Passe screening and got some attention for her braided hairstyle, that looked like a rainbow on top of her head.

Just the day before, Elena wore her hair in an entirely different style for the opening ceremonies and premiere of Annette.

There, she styled her hair up in a what looked like an open flame, to coordinate with her silver dress.

The two stars arrived at the photo call for their film, Annette, on Tuesday (July 6) in Cannes, France.

Marion looked super chic in a patterned black and white top, black shorts and matching boots, while Adam opted for a black suit jacket over a blue button down.

The 58-year-old Silence of the Lambs actress and director will be honored with a lifetime achievement Palme d’Or at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, it was revealed on Wednesday (June 2).

If you didn’t know, that is the highest prize awarded at the festival, and goes to the best film every year.

The 2021 Cannes Film Festival will likely be postponed from May 2021 until July 2021.

According to a report from Variety on Thursday (January 21), the festival is expected to be rescheduled for July 5-25, 2021. They will likely announce the changes by the end of the month, if they move forward.

The festival is typically held in May every year. It was at one point possible that Cannes would look to push the event to late June, but this slot is already taken by the annual advertising market, the Cannes Lions.

Variety added, “With the Cannes Lions still on track to run June 21-25, it’s feasible that the Cannes Film Festival could be assembled in time to roll out in early July. One industry insider says it would take only a few days or roughly a week to set up the film festival.”

It has also been suggested that the festival may be extended due to the strong selection of films this year. The 2020 Cannes Film Festival was postponed in May of last year and was ultimately cancelled.
