2021 Emmy Awards Reveals Host & Plans For Live Audience

Cedric The Entertainer will be hosting the 2021 Emmy Awards!

The 57-year-old Neighborhood star and comedian will be hitting the stage to host the upcoming award show, according to Variety.

The ceremony is set to air on CBS on September 19.

The Television Academy and CBS revealed that the show will be back at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles’ L.A. Live complex, and they will welcome a “a limited audience of nominees and their guests.”

In 2020, Jimmy Kimmel was the host for the virtual ceremony, which was held due to the pandemic. The ratings reflected how well it was received.

Cedric shared a video and statement about his excitement for hosting the 2021 Emmy Awards.

“Since I was a little boy huddled up next to my grandmother, television has always been my reliable friend, so it is an enormous honor for me to host this year’s Emmy Awards,” Cedric shared. “Throughout the roller-coaster of a year that we have all lived through, television has helped us stay connected as a society like never before. It not only entertained us, but as it always has, it helped to open our eyes, educate us, and hopefully brought about a better understanding of who we are as a people. I can’t wait to take the stage to celebrate all of the great shows and performances that made us laugh, cry, dance and sing over the past year.”

The 2021 Emmy Awards will air live on Sunday, September 19 @ 8/7c on CBS, and will also stream live and on demand on Paramount+.
