French President Emmanuel Macron Slapped in the Face During a Visit

French President Emmanuel Macron had an incident during a visit.

The 43-year-old politician was slapped in the face on an official visit to the south-east of France at Tain-l’Hermitage on Tuesday (June 8).

In a clip that has since gone viral on social media, the French president is seen walking up to a barrier, as a man in a green shirt slaps him in the face before officers quickly move in to apprehend the man and pull the President away.

Two men have been arrested after the incident, according to French media.

The man allegedly shouted “Down with Macron-ism” as he slapped the French politician, as well as “Montjoie, Saint-Denis,” which is the battle cry of the old Kingdom of France, in reference to the banner of King Charlemagne, via BBC.

Emmanuel Macron briefly returned after the slapping incident to interact with the crowd once again. The motive is not yet known, nor is the identity of the slapper.

It was recently revealed in a poll which celebrities Americans would vote for in U.S. politics.
