If you don’t know, the name “Karen” is now largely associated with a white woman who weaponizes her privilege to further marginalize people of color. A “Karen” is usually described as someone who is always asking to speak with the manager and has the ability to carry out racist micro-aggressions.

According to the Huffington Post, the name fell 171 spots in the list of most popular names in 2020, going from number 660 in 2019 to 831 in 2020. To put into better perspective, 325 babies were named Karen in 2020 vs 439 in 2019.

Karen’s ranking in 2020 is the lowest ranking of the name since 1927.
