Issa Rae to Lead 'Project Greenlight' Reboot at HBO Max

Issa Rae is taking on a new project.

The 36-year-old Insecure actress is partnering with HBO Max and Miramax for a revival of the critically acclaimed docuseries Project Greenlight, per Variety.

The upcoming series will adhere to a similar format as the original, which ran from 2001-2003 and was briefly revived in 2005 and again in 2015.

However, the new iteration of the show will center on talented female filmmakers who are given the opportunity to direct a feature film.

Issa will act as an executive producer for their work and appear in every episode, offering her guidance to the filmmakers. The finished product will then debut on HBO Max.

Jennifer O’Connell, executive vice president of non-fiction and live-action family at HBO Max, said in a statement, “At HBO Max, we are committed to providing a platform for diverse, up-and-coming talent. Issa is uniquely skilled in this space, and we are thrilled to be partnering with her and Miramax as a promising group of filmmakers is inspired and challenged with their biggest opportunity yet.”

Issa has been spotted filming for the last season of her hit series Insecure and you can see all the pics here!
