Julie Andrews Pays Tribute to Christopher Plummer, Her 'Sound of Music' Co-Star, After His Death

Julie Andrews has released a statement following the death of her longtime friend and former co-star, Christopher Plummer.

The legendary actor was best known for his role as Captain Georg Von Trapp in the movie The Sound of Music, which starred Julie as Maria. They reunited on screen for a live television performance of On Golden Pond in 2001.

Christopher joked recently that he and Julie “should have ended up together. We should have had a huge smashing affair. But there was no time because she had her children with her, which was most inconvenient.”

After the news of Christopher‘s passing, Julie released the following statement:

“The world has lost a consummate actor today and I have lost a cherished friend. I treasure the memories of our work together and all the humor and fun we shared through the years. My heart and condolences go out to his lovely wife Elaine, and his daughter Amanda,” she said.
