Dakota Johnson to Star in New Movie Directed by Her Favorite Comedian (It's Not Ellen!)

Dakota Johnson has joined the ensemble cast of the upcoming movie Am I OK?, which will be co-directed by longtime couple Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne.

If you remember Dakota‘s awkward interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show back in November 2019, you’ll remember that Tig is her favorite comedian. She told a story about her 30th birthday party and how she invited Ellen, who didn’t show up.

The performer at the party was Tig. “She’s my favorite comedian,” Dakota said. When she realized she just said that to Ellen, she added, “Other than you.”

Variety reports that Am I OK? follows “lifelong best friends Lucy and Jane, who are convinced they know everything there is to know about each other. When Jane announces she’s moving from L.A. to London for a job, Lucy reveals a deeply buried, long-held secret. As Jane tries to help Lucy sort through old patterns and new feelings, their bond is thrown into chaos.”

It’s not clear who Dakota will be playing in the film yet. The ensemble cast also features Sonoya Mizuno, Jermaine Fowler, Whitmer Thomas, Molly Gordon, June Diane Raphael, Tig Notaro and Sean Hayes.

The movie will begin shooting on February 1 in Los Angeles.

We have some exciting news to share about Dakota and her longtime boyfriend Chris Martin.
