Tom Cruise & 'Mission Impossible: Fallout' Director Get Honored at Harold Lloyd Awards 2019!
Tom Cruise is all smiles as he poses alongside Christopher McQuarrie on the red carpet at the 2019 Lumiere Awards held at Warner Bros. Studios on Wednesday (January 30) in Burbank, Calif.
The 56-year-old actor was in attendance to help honor the 50-year-old Mission Impossible: Fallout director for achievement in filmmaking with the Harold Lloyd Award.
Tom and Christopher also accepted the trophy for Best Scene or Sequence, for Mission: Impossible — Fallout‘s final helicopter chase sequence.
“[Christopher] applies cutting edge technology beautifully,” Tom said during his speech (via THR). “Like Harold Lloyd, respects the audience … and understands that story is everything.”
“Our single greatest piece of technology is Tom Cruise,” Christopher continued. “I have an unfair advantage. Whatever we come up with, Tom’s response is ‘Yeah, I’ll do that. How are you going to shoot it?’ That sets in motion the development of new technology.”
