Whoopi Goldberg made her return to The View on Tuesday (June 29) along with what she calls her new “best friend”.
The 65-year-old entertainer and host of the morning talk show took a break from the show for some health issues and returned alongside the walker to help alleviate her sciatica.
“Yes, it’s me, I’m back,” she shared. “I was out because I was dealing with something called sciatica, which is basically a bulging disc in your back and it impacts the sciatic nerve, which sends pain down your leg.”
She then explained that she’s been using a walker to help her get around and held up the device to the camera for her fellow co-hosts to see.
“I have a walker, which kind of freaks me out I didn’t know that I needed it,” Whoopi continued, adding that after taking the “first step with the walker, this my new best friend.”
“I’m just gliding along,” she joked. “So that’s what happened to me. I was told it comes out of nowhere.”

If you missed it, a new backstage report from The View was released…
The 34-year-old actor stepped out for the Welcome Lunch for this year’s film festival hosted by co-chair Robert De Niro on Wednesday afternoon (June 9) at Pier 76 in New York City.
For those that don’t know, Whoopi is the moderator of the show and it’s up to her to wrap up conversations and lead the show to commercial breaks.
During the Monday (May 24) episode, there was a conversation about Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s comments in which she compared a mandate for wearing masks to the Holocaust.
The panelists on the show all condemned the comments, but Meghan didn’t seem to be supportive of making the comments a “Hot Topic” on the show.
“I would love if the energy that is being put on one crazy woman in Congress — and by the way, if she is the face of the Republicans, then the Squad is the face of the Democrats — I would love Democrats to put that same type of energy onto what’s happening on the left, because quite frankly, this is how people get red-pilled,” Meghan said. Her minutes-long argument included the point that “anti-Semitism is a huge problem everywhere in this country.”

In her interview with Variety, the 65-year-old actress and comedian opened up about picking up the trophy and then taking her fellow nominees out to dinner afterwards.
Whoopi and her fellow nominees Annette Bening, Lorraine Bracco, Diane Ladd, and Mary McDonnell, all went to dinner after the show to celebrate, and Whoopi even had chocolate Oscar statuettes made that she presented to them.
“We all did really good work,” she recalled. “Any one of us could’ve taken it, and I don’t think anybody would’ve been mad at anybody else. Sometimes you look at actors and you know, ‘Oh, he’s mad,’ but with us, it was just ‘Whoever wins is paying, that’s all I know. Free food.’”
Whoopi, who won for her role as Oda Mae Brown in Ghost, opened up about how the movie is still making an impact.
“We weren’t sure what the hell we were shooting,” she muses. “I don’t think any of us thought it would have this sort of impact, and then the box office numbers started coming in, and everybody was like, ‘Do we have back end on this movie? Because I’d like some.’”
Whoopi added, “Everybody wants to feel like their loved one is there with them, and that the bad guys go to hell and good guys go to heaven, and that love is forever. Everybody wants that kind of magical connection that Demi [Moore] and Patrick [Swayze]’s characters have.”

Whoopi Goldberg‘s reaction on The View went viral and to be honest, it’s pretty funny!
During the segment on The View, the co-hosts were speaking about Meghan Markle‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
Meghan spoke directly to the camera, saying, “If we have two American women — Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey — who are single-handedly finishing what George Washington and our Revolutionary counterparts did, I’m all for it.” Meghan than appeared to end her thought and the camera panned back to Whoopi.
The 65-year-old actress will not be appearing in an upcoming London revival of Sister Act: The Musical due to the postponement caused by the pandemic, Deadline reported Tuesday (February 16).
She is also a producer of the musical, and was set to reprise the role of Deloris Van Cartier role from the 1992 film, starring with Absolutely Fabulous‘ Jennifer Saunders as Mother Superior.
She confirmed the news in a statement on the musical’s official website, citing “ongoing government restrictions resulting in a further delay to the production.” The musical was set to begin performances at London’s Eventim Apollo this July, but the opening has been pushed back a year to July of 2022.
“This necessary change of dates now means that Whoopi Goldberg will no longer be able to appear in the role of Deloris Van Cartier.”
“Sister Act is near and dear to my heart and I’m disappointed that I will be unable to perform in this production under the circumstances. However, my producing partners and I will continue to work towards mounting a fantastic production, with an amazing new cast and we look forward to presenting it when it can be done safely for everyone onstage, behind the scenes and in the audience,” she said in the statement.
