The streets are crowded these days!

Director Jon M. Chu revealed in an interview with The Wrap that In The Heights was filmed in the same spot as Steven Spielberg‘s upcoming West Side Story in Washington Heights, New York.

The two movies were both filming in the summer of 2019.

“We were right there in each other’s back some days. There was one day where their catering truck was literally in our shot and we had to go over there and be like, ‘Can you move your catering truck that way, guys, please?’” he revealed, adding that there was a “camaraderie” between the two projects.

“There was like a fun rivalry. All the dancers know each other. There was fighting over who was getting who, but at the end of the day, everyone’s working — how beautiful is it that everyone’s working? And what a great time in the musical space that two of us can exist. I love it when people are like, oh, you guys are like rivals, and you’re like, it only begs the question, why can’t there be two? Why can’t there be more than one musical about LatinX people in New York City? We need to get to that place. If it feels odd, that means something’s wrong,” he continued.

Rachel Zegler had a huge career moment this weekend and she documented it for her YouTube channel!

The 19-year-old actress is playing the role of Maria in the remake of West Side Story and the first teaser trailer dropped during the Oscars.

Rachel shared some emotional tweets with fans over the weekend while preparing for the trailer to premiere and she recorded herself watching it while in her Los Angeles hotel room. The 18-minute video first shows Rachel hanging out with friends like The Prom‘s Nico Greetham and Broadway actor Chris McCarrell throughout the weekend. We then get to see her reaction to the trailer starting at the 14:30 mark.

“winning the oscar for Best Trailer Aired At the Oscars is such an honor thank you to the academy,” Rachel tweeted the next day.

The first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg‘s remake of the classic musical West Side Story has arrived!

Ansel Elgort and newcomer Rachel Zegler star in the film as Tony and Maria alongside EGOT winner Rita Moreno as Valentina, who owns the corner store in which Tony works. The film tells the classic tale of fierce rivalries and young love in 1957 New York City.

For those that don’t know, Rita played the role of Anita in the original film and won an Oscar for her performance. Her role in the remake was created specifically for her!

Rachel Zegler has been waiting for this moment for a long time and it has finally arrived!

The 19-year-old newcomer is playing the lead role of Maria in Steven Spielberg‘s remake of West Side Story and the first trailer is debuting tonight during the Oscars.

Rachel landed the role in January 2019 and the movie was filmed in the summer of that year. The film was supposed to be released in theaters in December 2020, but it was delayed because of the pandemic and will now hit theaters on December 10, 2021.

While we’ve seen some official photos from the film, the trailer will mark the first time we’re seeing any footage of the cast in action. Rachel is so excited for the world to see the trailer and her tweets about it will definitely make you emotional.

“currently sobbing in bed because life is about to get Real tomorrow. thank you for sharing these past few years of in-between with me,” Rachel wrote on Saturday night.

Today would have been the day that the West Side Story musical remake would have been released in theaters, but the release has been delayed by entire year due to the pandemic.

Rachel Zegler, the newcomer who is playing the lead role of Maria, is marking the day by sharing some glam photos from her at-home “premiere.” It’s also director Steven Spielberg‘s birthday!

On her Instagram Stories, Rachel shared a photo of herself in front of a Spielberg poster.

“Happy birthday to the og, the man, the myth, the legend: Mr. Steven Spielberg. We were supposed to be celebrating you AND a movie release today but the universe knew that would be too much power for one day – so next year it is,” Rachel said. “Thank you for changing my life in so many ways, and continuing to do so with the grace of your guidance. For your existence, I am forever grateful.”

Rachel looked gorgeous while posing in a yellow dress at home. She wrote, “I was supposed to be at a premiere lol… but 2020 can’t take my serve <3.”

West Side Story will now hit theaters on December 10, 2021.

Two more major movies are being delayed amid the very slow box office as the COVID-19 pandemic is still going on.

Marvel has officially delayed Black Widow to May 7, 2021. The movie was originally supposed to be released in May 2020, then November of 2020. Now, hopefully, May of 2021 it is.

Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is being moved from the May 7 date to July 9, 2021. The Eternals will now debut in November of 2021.

Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story was supposed to be released this coming December, however, the studio has pushed the film a full year to December 10, 2021.

Disney also decided to push Death on the Nile from October 23 to December 18.

Pixar’s Soul is still set for November 2020, for now.
