Where Are Erin Andrews & Tom Bergeron on 'DWTS'? They've Been Replaced

If you’re tuning in for the season 29 premiere of Dancing With the Stars tonight, get ready for a lot of changes.

The show’s longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews will not be there as they have been replaced by Tyra Banks for the new season.

News of Tom and Erin‘s exit was revealed back in mid-July and they were blindsided by the news. She previously spoke out about how it was a “surprise” to find out that she wasn’t returning to the show.

Erin explained her emotions in a new interview that was just released ahead of the DWTS premiere.

“I didn’t have much time to deal with it. I got a phone call — we were on the putting green with my dog and my husband — and I got a call that said, ‘You know, so-and-so from ABC wants to talk to you,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, s–t,’ like, this is it,” Erin said on the Token CEO podcast. “I felt sorry for myself, and I kind of was like, ‘This is a terrible time to lose my job,’ because we don’t know when live television is coming back. These are hard jobs to get. I was like, ‘Oh no, I’m a loser, this is really bad,’ and then you just start talking to other people from other networks and people that have production groups and they’re like, ‘You’re gonna find something.’ … Yeah, it was a super big bummer.”

Following the premiere of the promo poster for the upcoming season, which features Tyra with a disco ball mouth, Tom reacted with some playful shade.

“This Just In: National Association of Lip Safety cautions against applying multiple small mirrors on mouth. One bad chew and it’s 7 years of bad luck 😳😉,” he captioned the cheeky post.

Jordan Fisher Calls Tyra Banks' 'DWTS' Hiring 'Odd'

Jordan Fisher is calling the hiring of Tyra Banks to replace both Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as hosts on Dancing with the Stars “odd.”

“It’s odd. Tyra is very talented, and ABC, I would say, most of the time knows what they’re doing. It’s really just a matter of seeing it actually happen,” Jordan told ET. Jordan won DWTS in 2017 and hosted Dancing With the Stars: Juniors in 2018.

“I’m curious… the tonal quality of the show is so family-oriented, and I think that Tom [Bergeron] and Erin [Andrews] have played a large part in cultivating that feeling for fans at home. So their absence, I think, is… I mean, it’s evident based on social media and all that stuff how people feel in terms of their absence from the show.”

“She’s an EP on the show as well, so I don’t know,” he continued. “I don’t know what that’s gonna look like or sound like or feel like, or anything along those lines. So, we’ll see. We’ll see when the show comes back up.”

Tom and Erin weren’t the only DWTS mainstays recently fired from the show.

DWTS' Carrie Ann Inaba Reveals Fate of the Judges, Reacts to Tyra Banks as New Host

Carrie Ann Inaba is opening up about the big changes happening at Dancing With the Stars and she’s revealing the fate of the judging panel.

It was just announced that the show’s longtime hosts have been fired and they are being replaced by Tyra Banks, who will be the show’s new executive producer.

“I feel like it was just such sudden news. My heart breaks for Tom [Bergeron] and Erin [Andrews],” Carrie Ann said on The Talk‘s episode that will air July 21.

“I cried when I heard the news, as well as, I think a lot of our fans did,” she said. “People have been saying that Tyra is the first black host of Dancing with the Stars, and I just want to clarify, because season one we had Lisa Canning… Also, I don’t think that’s how we should be labeling her. She’s our new host. Period. It has nothing to do with the color of her skin. I think it has to do with all that Tyra Banks is. All the energy she has. She’s like a visionary, she’s a strong, powerful woman…I think we’re in good hands. It’s different, the fans are going to have to get used to it, I understand that, but I think we should welcome her.”

So, will Carrie Ann and the other judges return for the upcoming season?

“As of now, that is the plan,” she said. “I just want everybody to know Len [Goodman], Bruno [Tonioli] and I, that is the plan that we’re coming back. But they’re going make the official announcement in a few weeks. They’re just going to keep letting us know all the details. I don’t want people to worry. It seems like everything is okay.”

Tyra Banks to Replace Tom Bergeron & Erin Andrews as New 'Dancing with the Stars' Host

Tyra Banks is taking over hosting duties of Dancing with the Stars!

It has been announced that the 46-year-old model will be replacing Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the new host of the ABC dance competition series for season 29.

Along with being named host, Tyra will also be given an executive producer title on Dancing with the Stars.

“I’ve been a fan of DWTS since its beginning,” Tyra said in a statement via THR. “The fun mixed with raw emotion, seeing celebrities push past their comfort zones, the sizzling dance performances… it’s always transported me to my days of turning it up 10 notches on the catwalk. Tom has set a powerful stage, and I’m excited to continue the legacy and put on my executive producer and hosting hats.”

Earlier this week, Tom revealed that he was let go from Dancing with the Stars after hosting the show for all 28 seasons over the past 15 years.

ABC then released a statement saying that the show is moving in “a new creative direction,” and that Erin will also not be returning.

Tyra has hosted America’s Got Talent and America’s Next Top Model.

America's Next Top Model's Jay Manuel Reveals Why He Really Left the Show & Addresses Tyra Banks Backlash on Social Media

Jay Manuel is speaking out.

The 47-year-old former America’s Next Top Model judge, who left the show after Cycle 18, spoke out about the show and former co-star Tyra Banks in an interview with Variety on Wednesday (May 13).

“When we parted ways, I had already completed my contract after Cycle 18 with no plans to return for Cycle 19, and that’s something that people don’t know. It was 100% my decision to leave the show, as I was ready to move my career in a different direction, but unfortunately at the time, my departure was misreported to the press, and contractually, I could not speak about leaving the show. Now, I can speak about it, so I can be clear that my departure from the show was one of choice,” Jay said of leaving the show.

“My primary focus was shifting my career. But, initially when the show started, creatively, it was just a conversation between Tyra and myself. As the show grew and big sponsors came on board, everyone felt the pressure now to build the ratings, so then everyone was adding layers to these shoots and taking it away from realistic fashion challenges, which became increasingly difficult for me because I had to juggle what the sponsor wanted and what production wanted for TV ratings and also create the creative, so it just became very difficult to manage. By the time I finished with Cycle 18, there was just so much more I needed to do with my career and I wasn’t offering anything new to the show, at that point.”

He also addressed the recent social media backlash that Tyra has faced about questionable plot points, challenges and her behavior throughout the series.

“I do think it’s a little unfair for people to persecute Tyra now, especially because she has already taken heat for her past executive decisions in past years. However, I can’t really defend her either because when ratings were high and things were great, she remained a clear figurehead, because it was her show. Consistently, when s–t hit the fan and people wanted to talk about some of the things that were said on the show, we would have another singular EP come forward to claim that all creative decisions were made as the team, and I really wish that were the case, but that just simply is not true.”

Here’s what Tyra Banks said about backlash for those insensitive ANTM moments…

Tyra Banks Breaks Silence on Insensitive Moments on 'America's Next Top Model'

Tyra Banks is speaking out in response to the insensitive moments that were featured on her reality show America’s Next Top Model throughout the years.

Clips from the show have been resurfacing this week and fans have looked back at some of the cringeworthy moments.

Tyra once told Cycle 6 winner Dani Evans that she’d never be a successful model because of the gap in her teeth. Cycle 13 included a photo shoot where contestants had their skin darkened for a “biracial themed” shoot. Cycle 4 runner-up Kahlen Rondot was asked to do a photo shoot in a coffin in a graveyard, just one day after her friend died.

“Been seeing the posts about the insensitivity of some past ANTM moments and I agree with you. Looking back, those were some really off choices. Appreciate your honest feedback and am sending so much love and virtual hugs. ❤️,” Tyra wrote on Twitter on Friday night (May 8).

Tyra has been hosting the show since 2003.

In a recent interview, Tyra opened up about the weight she has gained since posing for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover last year.
