More details behind Tamron Hall‘s abrupt departure from NBC have started to come out.
Earlier today it was announced that the 46-year-old anchor had decided to quit her jobs with NBC and MSNBC after learning that Megyn Kelly would replace her Today Show time slot.
Now a source is telling People Magazine that Tamron learned she would be losing her job right before going live on air.
“On Friday, minutes before going on MSNBC they told her that she and Al are being taken off the air,” the insider said.
The magazine also reports that Tamron had become a major “team player” for the network, filling in for Savannah Guthrie and Lester Holt on NBC while also taking on additional roles at MSNBC, leaving the networks surprised that she decided not to renew her contract.
Tamron reportedly learned about the time replacement from her agent, instead of from NBC management, which shocked her, but she “went on air and acted like the classy professional that she is.”
The source said that the way Tamron found out played a major reason behind why she decided to leave.
