Tamar Braxton is opening up about her suicide attempt over the summer.

In her first interview, the 43-year-old reality star sat down with Tamron Hall on Wednesday (October 28), to talk about what happened over the summer, while also revealing that she has contemplated suicide multiple times.

“Were you at home at the time?” Tamron asked Tamar. “Did you take pills?”

After a few moments, Tamar responded: “It’s so hard to say, Tamron, because I feel like there’s a responsibility for- you know, I call them family, my fans, who watch. I don’t want to give any examples. But what I will say is, that was my lowest point of life.”

Tamron then asked if Tamar had ever consider taking her life before.

“I’m just going to be a hundred percent. There has been a time where I wanted to,” Tamar said.

Tamron asked, “But this was the first time you acted on it?” To which Tamar replied, “Yeah.”

Back in July, Tamar‘s then-boyfriend David Adefeso called 911 after he found her unconscious in the Los Angeles hotel room where they were staying. It was reported at the time that she had been drinking and had also taken pills. She was hospitalized, and after a few days of being responsive and receiving treatment, Tamar was transferred to a mental health facility.

Later in the interview with Tamron, Tamar said that she has not attempted since that night.

“It’s been a lot of dark, hard times,” she said. “I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety due to a circumstance.”

Tamar also said that she is not on any medication at the moment, but she is in counseling “every single day.”

Tamar Braxton‘s boyfriend David Adefoso has filed a restraining order against the singer and reality TV star, but she is alleging he was the aggressor.

She claims that he assaulted her and threatened to kill her in a “murder-suicide,” via The Blast on Tuesday (September 8).

“According to sources close to Braxton, the ex-couple got into a heated altercation while driving to check the reality star into a mental health facility for treatment. We’re told on the way, Tamar questioned Adefesco about a recent about an Instagram he shared featuring her 7-year-old son, Logan Herbert. At that point, the couple apparently began arguing and Tamar told David he was ‘around for the wrong reasons and could not be trusted,’” the outlet reported.

Tamar says that David became “irate, threatening not only her life but his own,” adding that they’d end up in a “murder-suicide.” Sources close to Tamar said the argument turned violent at that point and he “grabbed her hard” on the arms and caused bruising. There are allegedly photos showing injuries during the incident.

David filed a domestic violence restraining order in Los Angeles County Court asking a judge to order Tamar to stay away from him, although his allegations have not been revealed.

“Any claims that Ms. Braxton was the aggressor and/or abusive are completely false and have no merit. David Adefeso has been upset and abusive since seeing his own true colors on Tamar’s upcoming television show and has been taking it out on Tamar ever since,” sources told The Blast.

David Adefeso‘s lawyer has not yet responded to the outlet’s request for comment.

Last month, Tamar credited her boyfriend with saving her life after discovering her in their home “lifeless.”

The 43-year-old reality star took to her Instagram to share a message in honor of her boyfriend for “saving her life” after her suicide attempt last month.

“I came here just to say this and then I’m logging off,” Tamar wrote. “If you have ever been in recovery or treatment you know that you reflect on a lot of things…so I couldn’t let another day, another second go by without PUBLICLY Thanking my Love @david.adefeso for saving my life… I’m so grateful. I was in our home lifeless 😔💔 & I’m sure finding me the way that you did couldn’t have been easy.”

David found Tamar unresponsive in her Los Angeles hotel room following her suicide attempt. He then called the police and she was rushed to the hospital. Tamar went on to defend David, after fans had negative things to say about him.

“But know that people coming at you saying all this crazy stuff, isn’t easy for me,” Tamar wrote. “People have called you every name in the book, to deflect from what’s really been going on.” Through this entire time, you have held my hand, heard my cries, held me when I have been weak. You have had my ENTIRE back‼️ I will not allow anyone to call you controlling or ‘that’s that African man’ 😒🤦🏽‍♀️👀 like I don’t have a mind of my own 🙄 cause without THIS African man, I simply would not be here.”

Tamar then said that David and her son Logan are her “priority.” Tamar shares her seven-year-old son with ex-husband Vincent Herbert.

“Everything isn’t political and your love for me is not that. You were here for me when NOBODY was and still is. YOU and Logan are priority,” Tamar concluded. “Thank you for being my Rock and now, my Angel on earth. I love you.. and although I been said yes in this old video… now and then, I couldn’t imagine what life would be like if you weren’t by my side. thank God I’m here and thank God for you ❤️‼️💍”

A few days before, Tamar first broke her silence after her hospitalization, saying her “cry for help” was ignored by WE tv.

Tamar Braxton is speaking out for the first time following her hospitalization earlier this month, after what is believed to have been a suicide attempt.

The 43-year-old singer and reality star wrote an open letter to fans, which she published on her social media pages on Thursday (July 30).

Tamar accused WE tv, the television network that airs her shows Braxton Family Values and the planned series Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!, of ignoring her cry for help.

“Over the past 11 years there were promises made to protect and portray my story, with the authenticity and honesty I gave. I was betrayed, taken advantage of, overworked, and underpaid,” Tamar said in her letter. “I wrote a letter over two months ago asking to be freed from what I believed was excessive and unfair. I explained in personal detail the demise I was experiencing.”

“My cry for help went totally ignored. However the demands persisted. It was my spirit, and my soul that was tainted the most,” she said.

Tamar says that it felt like she was watching the “slow death of the woman” she once viewed herself as. She said, “I felt like I was no longer living, I was existing for the purpose of a corporations gain and ratings, and that killed me.”

Tamar is currently in recovery and plans to use her voice “to be an ally for every Black and brown person who has suffered from the continued exploitation of reality television.”

Tamar Braxton‘s upcoming docuseries, Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!, has been postponed by the network.

In a statement, via People, the network explained the reason behind their decision to delay the premiere.

“Tamar Braxton has been an incredibly important member of the WE tv family for more than a decade, and our first concern is for her recovery and well-being,” the statement said, adding that “given the current situation, we are postponing the premiere of Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life! until September 10.”

WE Tv added that the “series was conceived by Tamar and is a real portrait of a dynamic woman juggling the demands of being a single mother, a new relationship and her career.”

“We know, when the time is right, Tamar’s fans will relate to seeing this honest portrait of her life, but — at this moment — we are joining with her fans and sending strength and healing in the hope that she is getting the support and help she needs at this difficult time.”

It was revealed last week that Tamar was hospitalized after a reported attempted suicide attempt.

She is currently in a facility that is focused on mental health care.

Tamar Braxton‘s boyfriend David Adefeso is breaking his silence after she was hospitalized for a possible suicide attempt last week.

The 43-year-old singer and reality star is currently in recovery after she was found unresponsive at her apartment in Los Angeles.

David released a statement to The Blast and talked about her ongoing treatment.

“On behalf of Tamar Braxton, I want to thank her fans and the public for the ongoing thoughts and prayers. Tamar is a beautifully talented woman, a devoted mother, a loving girlfriend, a dear sister and a special friend to countless people,” David said. “This is an extremely difficult time for Tamar and her family as she navigates professional and personal struggles including her battle with depression.”

“Tamar is currently receiving the best available medical attention to address those struggles and strengthen her mental health, and her family and I will remain by her side throughout her treatment,” he continued.

“Mental health is a common issue, affecting 1 in 5 Americans,” he said. “Please continue to send prayers and hope as Tamar continues the path to recovery and ultimate happiness. We ask to please respect Tamar’s privacy, and her family’s privacy, during this important time of healing.”

Tamar Braxton‘s condition has improved, according to a new update shared by The Blast.

Over the weekend, the 43-year-old singer and reality star was found unresponsive after a possible suicide attempt and was admitted to a local hospital for treatment.

The Blast is now reporting that Tamar is alert and responsive and has been moved to a new hospital for specialized treatment.

Tamar is “talking to doctors about her situation and the days leading up to the hospitalization.”

She has also been moved to another hospital in Los Angeles that focuses on mental health, with specialist physicians in depression, anxiety, and sexual assault trauma.

“Out of respect for Tamar’s privacy and that of her family, no additional information is available at this time,” a source shared, before adding that she’s received a tremendous amount of support.

“The outpouring of support that Tamar has received is a testament to the light that she brings to people.”

Further treatment for Tamar will be decided on in the coming days.
