Elton John, Lauren Jauregui & More Stars Slam The Vatican Says The Church Will Not Bless Same-Sex Marriages

Stars are speaking out after hearing about The Vatican‘s response about same sex marriages.

“Does the Church have the power to give the blessing to unions of persons of the same sex?” was the question and they responded with negative, according to Reuters.

“It is not licit to impart a blessing on relationships, or partnerships, even stable, that involve sexual activity outside of marriage (i.e., outside the indissoluble union of a man and a woman open in itself to the transmission of life), as is the case of the unions between persons of the same sex[6],” they wrote in their response. “The presence in such relationships of positive elements, which are in themselves to be valued and appreciated, cannot justify these relationships and render them legitimate objects of an ecclesial blessing, since the positive elements exist within the context of a union not ordered to the Creator’s plan.”

“Furthermore, since blessings on persons are in relationship with the sacraments, the blessing of homosexual unions cannot be considered licit,” the Vatican’s explanation continued. “This is because they would constitute a certain imitation or analogue of the nuptial blessing[7] invoked on the man and woman united in the sacrament of Matrimony, while in fact ‘there are absolutely no grounds for considering homosexual unions to be in any way similar or even remotely analogous to God’s plan for marriage and family’[8].”

After hearing of the news, many stars including Billy Eichner, Lauren Jauregui, Sunny Hostin, and even Elton John, slammed the church and the statement.

“But it’s cool for them to molest children….bet,” Lauren wrote in the first of a pair of tweets. “Also let’s not forget how most Catholics that exist today got here..look up ‘The Inquisition’ and ‘The Crusades’ I promise you that marrying a couple that loves each other is the least of the Church’s worries as far as disobeying God goes.”

Pope Francis has been known for his support for the right of gay couples to have civil legal protections but has always opposed gay marriage.

CNN's Van Jones Called Out By 'The View' Hosts' for Political Flip-Flopping

CNN commentator Van Jones was called out by the hosts of The View while making an appearance on the show on Friday morning (February 5) to talk about his new documentary.

Jones co-produced a documentary about American “unity” with The View co-host Meghan McCain, but his record was called out by some of her co-workers.

Sunny Hostin said, “Now Van, you do spend a lot of time threading the middle and trying to unite people. But there are those who accuse you of being a political opportunist—a chameleon, so to speak—who provided racial cover for former, disgraced, twice impeached President Trump.”

Sunny brought up how Van said Trump doesn’t get “enough credit” for his work helping the Black community. She continued, “Yet just recently you cried on CNN when Joe Biden was elected the 46th president, and you said it’s easier to be a parent now, character matters now, truth matters. You even mentioned George Floyd and said a lot of people felt they couldn’t breathe. People in the Black community don’t trust you anymore. What is your response?”

Sunny Hostin is opening up about losing both her mother and father in-law to complications caused by coronavirus.

On Friday (January 8), The View co-host shared that both of her husband’s parents passed away during the holidays.

Sunny told viewers that even after rigorous contact tracing she still doesn’t know how they contracted the virus. “They were both physicians and they were both very careful,” she said. “They didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving with us because we all decided it wasn’t safe.”

She went on to thank the healthcare workers who took care of her in-laws and her fellow co-hosts for their support, as well as remind viewers to take the pandemic seriously. “We want everyone to know that you may think you’re healthy and you won’t be impacted,” she said, “But you may be an asymptomatic carrier. You could put someone you love at risk.”

The View's Sunny Hostin Says Megyn Kelly Has Changed Since They First Met

The View‘s Sunny Hostin and Megyn Kelly used to work together at Fox News many years ago…and now Sunny is opening up about how much she has changed.

“She’s changed a bit from the person that I knew,” Sunny wrote in her memoir “I Am These Truths” (via People). She added that they had “a friendly relationship” and they “don’t anymore.”

“I was shocked that she morphed into this, you know, ‘Santa Claus ain’t black, and there’s no Black Jesus,’ this right winger. Because that is not the Megyn that I met, and that is not the Megyn that I knew. I don’t know that that is the real Megyn, the blackface Megyn,” Sunny said, adding she has been “really tone deaf for this time in our history — for any time in our history.”

The View's Sunny Hostin Reacts To Racist Comments Allegedly Said By ABC News Executive

Sunny Hostin is opening up about the racist comments made by ABC executive Barbara Fedida.

The View newscaster revealed that she was hurt by the comments during an episode of the daytime program this week.

“It was a tough weekend for me and I was really disappointed and saddened and hurt when I learned about the racist comments that were made allegedly about me, my colleagues and my dear friends,” Sunny shared.

She went on, “Because if true, to reference Robin Roberts, who is one of the most respected and beloved journalists in our country, as picking cotton. To reference me, someone who’s been very open about having grown up in public housing, as being low rent, to reference Kendis Gibson, who was my office mate at ABC and now is an MSNBC anchor, to say that he isn’t worth paying as much as ABC would pay for toilet paper. The fact that Mara Schiavocampo, who is a friend and a former colleague at ABC, the fact that she has an NDA in place and can’t talk about her experiences at ABC tells me that systemic racism touches everything and everyone in our society, regardless of social stature.”

Barbara has since been placed on administrative leave.

“There are deeply disturbing allegations in this story that we need to investigate, and we have placed Barbara Fedida on administrative leave while we conduct a thorough and complete investigation,” ABC News shared in a statement. “These allegations do not represent the values and culture of ABC News, where we strive to make everyone feel respected in a thriving, diverse and inclusive workplace.”

After the article from Huffington Post was shared, Sunny did mention that most of her colleagues on the show reached out to her for support.

“I felt very loved and supported by my colleagues. I felt supported by all of you. I know Meghan [McCain] and I had at least an hour conversation this weekend. Whoopi, you were so supportive. Joy, you were so supportive. My executive producers on the show were so supportive. And I thank you all for that,” she shared.

Sunny added, “But again, this has got to stop, and I just look forward to changes, if all of this is true here at ABC and just in our country.”
