'SpongeBob SquarePants' Episodes Pulled for Being Inappropriate

Two episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants are gone from streaming.

The episodes, “Kwarantined Crab,” and “Mid-Life Crustacean,” were pulled from Paramount+ and Amazon due to inappropriate content, according to CNN on Tuesday (March 30).

Season 12′s “Kwarantined Crab” follows the story of a virus, and a health inspector finding a case of “Clam Flu” at the Krusty Krab. The patrons are quarantined, and those who are assumed to have the virus are tossed into the freezer.

The removal comes amid a rise in anti-Asian violence in the United States which has prompted many celebrities to speak out. The episode mirrors similar tensions and suspicions brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. The World Health Organization is urging people to avoid terms like “Chinese virus,” which was repeatedly used by former President Donald Trump.

“We have decided to not air it due to sensitivities surrounding the global, real-world pandemic,” a spokesperson for Nickelodeon told CNN Business.

Another episode, called “Mid-Life Crustacean” was pulled since 2018. In the episode, SpongeBob, Patrick and Mr. Krabs break into a woman’s house and steal her underwear.

“We determined some story elements were not kid-appropriate,” Nickelodeon said.

Fans might find it a little weird that this superstar is a part of the new SpongeBob movie.

It Was Always Planned For Keanu Reeves To Appear in the New 'Spongebob' Movie

Fans might find it a little weird that Keanu Reeves is part of the new Spongebob Movie: Sponge on the Run, but according to filmmaker Tim Hill, it was always part of the plan.

In an interview with TVLine, writer and director Tim Hill explained that the role was written just for Keanu and he was the only star in mind of the cameo.

“When I wrote the character, I kept having Keanu in my head so I never really had another person that we were thinking about. It was so lucky that he was like, ‘Sure, I’ll do that,’” Tim revealed.

He adds that “we made little Keanu drawings so long before he actually agreed, he was kind of in the movie. We had temp voices doing him and the momentum was too much.”

Sponge on the Run is set to premiere on Thursday, March 4 on Paramount+, and follows Spongebob and his best friend Patrick on a wild journey to Atlantic City to save Gary, who’s been snail-napped by the mighty King Poseidon.

Just recently, Keanu was spotted out in Los Angeles doing something really cool. See what it was here here!

Did Nickelodeon Just Confirm SpongeBob SquarePants is Gay?!

Nickelodeon may have just confirmed to fans that the character SpongeBob SquarePants is gay. That’s at least how fans are interpreting the network’s latest tweet.

The @Nickelodeon Twitter account posted a Pride month message that seemingly confirmed the lovable character’s sexuality.

“Celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies this month and every month 🌈,” the network captioned the tweet, which included photos of SpongeBob, Henry Danger‘s Schwoz Schwartz, and Legend of Korra‘s Korra.

Korra is known to be gay or bisexual and Schwoz is played by transgender actor Michael D. Cohen. So, is SpongeBob part of the LGBTQ+ community as well?

SpongeBob’s sexuality has been in question for years and the show’s creator Stephen Hillenburg actually has said that the character is asexual, not gay.
