One of the most anticipated movies that was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic is the Marvel film Black Widow and an update was just provided.

Bob Chapek, the new CEO of Disney, has said the movie will still be released in theaters, despite many other films moving to streaming platforms.

“We’ll be watching to see the reopening of theaters and consumer sentiment in terms of going back to theater,” Chapek said on an earnings call, according to Deadline.

Black Widow is currently scheduled to be released on May 7 and if the pandemic slows down by then, there’s a chance the film could become the first blockbuster movie of the year.

Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Natasha Romanoff in the new film and she is joined by Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Rachel Weisz. This will be the first film of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four.

Michael Che got the last laugh!

During the winter finale of Saturday Night Live on Saturday (December 19), Michael was able to trick Colin Jost into making a joke about his new wife Scarlett Johansson.

Each year right before the holidays, the “Weekend Update” hosts write jokes for each other to read live for the first time during the show.

In the last joke Michael wrote, he was able to poke fun at Scarlett – which clearly took Colin by surprise.

“It was announced that Creed singer Scott Stapp will play Frank Sinatra in an upcoming movie,” Colin nervously first started to read. “But the good news is Sammy Davis Jr. will be played by Scarlett Johansson.”

The jokes pokes fun at Scarlett‘s past controversies, where she was accused of whitewashing and appropriation, when she infamously played a Japanese character in Ghost in the Shell.

Colin didn’t seem offended by the joke, as he ended the segment with laughing.

“They only planned the wedding for a few weeks,” a source said of the 35-year-old actress and 38-year-old SNL comedian (via People). “Just close friends and family attended.” Many weddings that were scheduled for 2020 were postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic across the globe.

A save the date card being attributed to Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost is being spread around the Internet – and while we can’t confirm it’s actually their save the date – it’s pretty funny!

The save the date is handwritten on an index card. In black ink, the words written are as follows: “Save the Date! Scarlett + Colin are getting married (we’re trying to save money for the wedding).” The save the date that was leaked has redacted the location and date of the actual wedding, and you can see the pic on ET.

Colin is, of course, a comedian and former head writer on SNL. Scarlett is a mega-movie star and is set to earn a massive amount of money from the Black Widow movie!

News of their engagement broke in May of 2019 after they had dated for two years.

Scarlett, on Black Widow: “I don’t want to candy-coat anything because it’s a challenge in a male-dominated industry to tell a woman’s story from the perspective of a female director and focus on the heart of something that is inherently female.”

Scarlett, on the roles she plays: “I look for women who I feel I can relate to on some level, that I have empathy for. That’s a bit complicated, obviously, because you can have empathy for people in different ways, and for different reasons. But if I can empathize with a character, no matter what their moral compass is, then that’s important to me.”

Florence, on the roles she wants to play: “…It’s always been, kind of, number-one top priority for me to find women who are totally fascinating and totally powerful in their own way. I really want to recognize the women I play, whether it’s that I recognize my mom in her, or my gran in her, or my sister in her. I want to play complex and confusing characters.”

Florence, her relationship with Scarlett: “I think maybe the tiredness did add to my not being so self-aware and just, I suppose, allowing myself to start taking the piss out of Scarlett from day one, which was great. And then from that point onward, we kind of did it to each other. It was instant sisterly bonding.”

Fans are also loving that Florence Pugh is hanging out with this star!

Scarlett Johansson will star in the upcoming movie Bride, which is being made by A24 and Apple.

The movie is a new take on the Bride of Frankenstein character and it will be directed by Chilean director Sebastián Lelio, whose movie A Fantastic Woman won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.

THR reports that the movie is about “a woman created to be an ideal wife— the singular obsession of a brilliant entrepreneur— who rejects her creator, and is forced to flee her confined existence, confronting a world that sees her as a monster. It is on the run that she finds her true identity, her surprising power, and the strength to remake herself as her own creation.”

Scarlett said, “It is long overdue for Bride to step out of the shadow of her male counterpart and stand alone. Working alongside [writers] Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker Blum, Sebastian and I are extremely excited to emancipate this classic anti-heroine and reanimate her story to reflect the change we see today.”
