Renee Zellweger Kicks Off Oscars Weekend at Tom Ford Show

This is going to be a big weekend for Renee as she’s nominated for an Oscar for her work in Judy and all signs point to her winning her second award.

Renee previously won in 2004 for Cold Mountain and was nominated in 2002 for Bridget Jones’s Diary and 2003 for Chicago.

Renee Zellweger Opens Up About Becoming Judy Garland For 'Judy': 'There's A Different Kind of Responsibility'

Renee Zellweger wears a chic ruched black dress for the premiere of Judy, held at Cinema Gaumont Marignan on Tuesday night (February 4) in Paris, France.

The 50-year-old actress was joined by producers David Livingstone, Cameron McCracken and composer Gabriel Yared on the red carpet.

Speaking to People recently, Renee opened up about studying everything about Judy Garland to portray her on screen.

“I tried to break it down from an intellectual perspective and look at the methodology behind it,” she shared. “Like, okay there’s a style of singing here, and what octave she’s singing in, and what the damage at that time in her life in terms of her performances. What are those things that are defining characteristics in terms of her performance choices? And I’d try to study those.”

Renee added, “When you’re portraying non-fictional accounts of people’s lives there’s a different kind of responsibility you feel to represent what could be known as accurately as possible.”

Judy‘s eldest daughter, Liza Minnelli, recently revealed that she won’t see the movie, but did have a message for Renee.

Liza Minnelli Has No Interest in Seeing 'Judy' But Did Have Something to Say Regarding Star Renee Zellweger

Liza Minnelli did not have much to say when asked about the movie Judy, which showcases her late mom Judy Garland in the year before her death at the age of 47 from an accidental overdose.

According to Variety, Liza told them she has no interest seeing the Renee Zellweger-led film.

The only statement Liza would make about the film was saying, “I hope [Zellweger] had a good time making it.”

Renee has been sweeping awards season for her work as the title character, winning the Golden Globe, SAG Award, BAFTA, and more. She’s nominated for an Oscar this weekend, and we’ll find out if she wins in just a matter of days.

Kate congratulated Renee Zellweger for her win as Leading Actress for her role in Judy.

Kate asked Renee whether she had a break from filming, to which she told her she was working on several projects, but said she was “thrilled” to be back in the UK, according to Hello Magazine.

Prince William, who is President of BAFTA, chatted with recipient of the Leading Actor award for his role in Joker, Joaquin Phoenix: “Lovely to meet you,” William said, “I absolutely loved the Joker. It was brilliant. I put it off and put it off before watching it, as people kept telling me ‘be careful when you choose to watch it.’ I’m glad I didn’t watch it before bed, but huge congratulations on an amazing performance.” Joaquin told William: “Thank you for your speech.”

Jessie is also nominated for Best Actress for her work in the indie film Wild Rose.

Renee Zellweger Admits She Had A 'Geek Spiral' When She Won Her 2004 Oscar!

Renée Zellweger paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday night (January 30) and admitted that winning an Oscar turns people into total geeks.

The 50-year-old Judy star talked to Jimmy about winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her Cold Mountain performance, and admitted that before her win, she had a plan to “not do that spiral” that makes people watching the award show “roll their eyes.”

“It just goes out the window,” Renée said. “You’re not going to be the geek person that freezes up and can’t hear anything and gets emotional, and then somebody says your name, and you hear this like, ‘Dooo!’ And then you do the geek spiral. I remember somebody was talking, and I guess it was me.”

This year, Renée is nominated in the Oscars’ Best Actress category for her role in Judy.

Jimmy also asked Renée who she’s rooting for at the 2020 Super Bowl this Sunday (February 2): “I gotta see J.Lo do her thing, c’mon!,” she said in support of Jennifer Lopez‘s halftime performance. “I’m rooting for J.Lo, I’m looking forward to that.”
