Regina King Praises This Shoe Designer For Having The Most Comfortable Shoes Ever

Regina King looks so stunning in a black and white Schiaparelli gown for the 2021 amfAR Cannes Gala held at Villa Eilenroc on Friday (July 16) in Cap d’Antibes, France.

The 50-year-old actress and director completed her look with Boucheron jewelry for the charitable night.

Earlier in the day, Regina stopped by the Kering Women In Motion Talk.

While there, she opened up about how she was approached to open the 2021 Oscars show the night before the event.

“I knew I was presenting and the category, and then they said the category would be up first. And then I thought, ‘Oh, they’re really changing things!’” she shared. “Then I got another call saying, ‘Well, it’s going to be a little more than your category starting first; we would like you to open the show.’ And I was like, ‘Open the show? I’m sorry. Open. The show?’”

Regina added, “That’s a lot of pressure. I talked to [ceremony producer Steven Soderbergh], we Zoomed, he laid it down, they sent a script, we worked on it. I was like, ‘Wow this is a lot to take in 24 hours before, but you can do it!’”

She was advised to wear comfortable shoes for the event, as it was quite a walk from the carpet to the podium at Union Station.

“I said, ‘It’s the Oscars! Of course I don’t have good shoes.’ But I brought the shoes to rehearsal and when I saw the distance — we call it a country mile — I was happy I had on the most comfortable shoes possible for the moment,” Regina shared about wearing a pair of six-inch Stuart Weitzman heels.

“[Stuart Weitzman] makes the best shoes if you have to walk a country mile in six-inch heels. I gave it to God and said, ‘Let’s go.’ I walked it once for the rehearsal and once for the show.”

FYI: Regina wore a Gucci look for the Kering event.

Regina King & 'One Night In Miami' Writer Kemp Powers Honored at Moth Ball 2021

Regina King gets in the middle of Kemp Powers and Bradley Cooper backstage at the Bring On The Light: The 2021 Moth Ball held at Spring Studios on Tuesday night (June 22) in New York City.

The One Night in Miami director was honored at the event alongside Kemp, who wrote the screenplay for the Oscar nominated film.

The Moth Ball is an annual spring gala and the largest fundraising event of the year, and proceeds from the event go towards many things including The Moth’s Community and Education programs, which extend storytelling instruction and performance opportunities to thousands of New York City high school students, and educators around the world.

“Our theme this year, ‘Bring On the Light,’ is a hopeful request for the emergence of possibility following the darkness of the past year. It bodes well for all that there’s talent like Kemp — one of my favorite Moth storytellers and Ms. King in the world,” artistic director Catherine Burns shared in a statement. “Both stand as powerful examples of how storytelling helps forge powerful connections and creates greater empathy and understanding. They inspire and engage us all.”

Regina King Reacts To Possibility of Directing Black 'Superman' Movie

Regina King is reacting to the possibility that she’ll be directing the new Superman movie.

The 50-year-old One Night In Miami director heard of the rumor that she’s on a short list of dream directors for the project from DC and Warner Bros.

While speaking to MSNBC’s Tiffany Cross over the weekend, Regina revealed that the rumor was news to her.

“I’m curious, because this is a little bit of gossip. You’re rumored to be on the short list to direct Superman. You and Barry Jenkins, both of your names have been thrown out there,” Tiffany had mentioned. “Anything you want to tell us? Is there any news you can break this morning about those conversations?”

Regina then replied, “Tiffany, that is news to me. You have broke the news to me…a news break, live on MSNBC!”

After pausing for a moment, she added that she had not “heard that until just now.”

Regina‘s name was listed on a dream list put out by many outlets after the studio shared it wanted to hire a Black director for the movie, as it would focus on the first Black Superman.

Regina King To Direct 'Bitter Root' Comic Book Movie Adaptation

Regina King has lined up another new movie to direct, according to Collider.

The 50-year-old One Night in Miami helmer will next step behind the camera for Bitter Root.

Set during the vibrant Harlem Renaissance of 1924, Bitter Root is a racially charged monster movie that follows a fractured family of once-great monster hunters who face an unimaginable evil that descends upon New York City.

For generations, the Sangeryes have hunted and cured those infected by a supernatural force that feeds off the prejudice of the era, transforming humans into monsters. Though many Sangeryes have died in the line of duty, the surviving family members have the unenviable choice to save or kill the creatures in hopes of thwarting an invasion.

Bitter Root‘s script is being re-written by Bryan Edward Hill and based off the comic book story from David F. Walker, Sanford Green and Chuck Brown, who will also be executive producing.

Regina is also going to be producing with Ryan Coogler and his Proximity Media partners Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian.

Just recently, Regina opened up about what she hoped for her next projects.

Regina King Kicks Off Oscars 2021 with Epic Entrance, Explains Masks Protocol at the Event (Video)

There’s no host at the 2021 Academy Awards, but Regina King kicked things off by welcoming the audience to the show at this year’s event!

The 50-year-old Oscar-winning actress made an epic entrance through the halls of Union Station while walking to the stage of the show on Sunday night (April 25) in Los Angeles.

When Regina arrived on stage, she opened the show with a speech about social justice and the pandemic. She also explained the masks protocol at the event, revealing that they’re treating the show like a movie set.

“When we’re rolling, masks off. And when we’re not rolling, masks on,” she said.

Regina also commented on the Derek Chauvin trial. She said, “I have to be honest: If things had gone differently this past week in Minneapolis, I might have traded in my heels for marching boots… I know that a lot of you people at home want to reach for your remote when you feel like Hollywood is preaching to you—but as a mother of a Black son, I know the fear that so many live with, and no amount of fame or fortune changes that.”

Earlier in the night, Regina walked the red carpet with Aldis Hodge, who stars in the movie One Night Miami, a film she directed.

FYI: Regina is wearing a Louis Vuitton dress and Forevermark jewelry.
