Rami Malek arrives for a low key day at the 2021 French Open at Roland Garros in Paris, France on Tuesday afternoon (June 8).
The 40-year-old Oscar winner was joined by a few friends for the event, where they watched the women singles quarterfinal match between Elena Rybakina and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
While watching the match, Rami made sure to stay hydrated with a bottle of water, and adhere to the COVID-19 safe guidelines throughout the event by wearing a face mask.
If you recall, the 39-year-old former Hart of Dixie actress opened up earlier this month about how Rami DMed her to take down an old photo of them during their high school days as he was campaigning for his Oscar.
“I had posted a throwback of us from our senior trip to New York. We’re super nerdy…just the dorkiest picture of the both of us. But I throw it up, ’cause it’s funny and I think it’s so important to be able to make fun of yourself,” Rachel recalled about the photo during her interview on the Arm Chair Expert podcast.
However, Rami didn’t love it up on Instagram at that time because of his campaign, which led him to win the Best Actor Oscar for his role in Bohemian Rhapsody.
Now, Rachel has an update for fans on the entire situation, after the story went viral.

Rami Malek and Lucy Boynton are still going strong as a couple and they have been spotted together for the first time in months!
The 39-year-old actor and the 27-year-old actress met while filming the 2018 movie Bohemian Rhapsody, which earned him an Oscar.
There was speculation about Rami and Lucy‘s relationship recently after he was spotted hanging out at the beach with friends earlier this month in Florida. At the same time, she was filming a new mini-series in Europe.
Well, Rami has made a trip to go see Lucy in Croatia!
E! News has photos of the couple spending time together on Thursday (April 22) in Zagreb, Croatia. She’s in town while shooting the British spy drama The Ipcress File with Joe Cole and Tom Hollander.
Rami is set to reprise his role in season two of the apocalyptic thriller podcast Blackout, which is made by QCode. He plays “Simon Itani, a small-town radio DJ fighting to protect his family and community after the power grid goes down nationwide, upending modern civilization.”
Deadline reports that Aja Naomi King will be joining the cast for season two and a TV series based on the podcast is in the works. It’s not yet know if Rami will be involved in that project.
The first season of Blackout has been downloaded more than 12 million times!
Nikolaj was just cast in the podcast Mask of Sanity, which will stream on Audible later this year. The podcast is “a serial killer story based on a true story from Bulgarian journalist, Dimiter Kenarov,” according to Deadline.
The Game of Thrones alum is co-producing the podcast, which “follows the story of a journalist reporting on a serial killer, but with a secret of his own.”
Rachel Bilson is opening up about the time that Rami Malek asked her to take down a photo she posted from their high school days.
During her appearance on Dax Shepard‘s Arm Chair Expert podcast, the 39-year-old former O.C. star revealed that she and Rami were close in high school.
“Rami was a good friend of mine,” she told Dax. “We were [in] the same crew. We did the Crucible together senior year, we were the leads in it together—all these things.”
As Rami rose to mega fame following his role in Bohemian Rhapsody, Rachel posted a throwback pic on her Instagram of the two in high school.
In the pic, the two were in New York City and looking pretty excited about being there. She jokingly captioned it, “Hey @ramimalek where’d you get that gold chain? #tbt #oscarworthy #dontforgetthelittlepeople.”
“I had posted a throwback of us from our senior trip to New York. We’re super nerdy…just the dorkiest picture of the both of us. But I throw it up, ’cause it’s funny and I think it’s so important to be able to make fun of yourself,” Rachel recalled about the photo.
However, it doesn’t seem Rami was a fan of her posting it, and he DMed her to take it down.

The movie pulled in $2.1 million in its second weekend of release, and overseas, brought in $1.4 million in ticket sales from 20 countries. It’s made $7.8 million in the U.S. and Canada and $5.2 million internationally to date.
Here’s a plot summary: “Kern County Deputy Sheriff Joe “Deke” Deacon (Washington) is sent to Los Angeles for what should have been a quick evidence-gathering assignment. Instead, he becomes embroiled in the search for a killer who is terrorizing the city. Leading the hunt, L.A. Sheriff Department Sergeant Jim Baxter (Malek), impressed with Deke’s cop instincts, unofficially engages his help. But as they track the killer, Baxter is unaware that the investigation is dredging up echoes of Deke’s past, uncovering disturbing secrets that could threaten more than his case.”
The movie opened to $4.8M at 2,171 theaters, and made $7.6M worldwide with money from 20 markets.

This is also not a surprise, as there is an ongoing trend among moviegoers amid the pandemic: “Older male action fare has been a staple during the pandemic since late August with movies like Solstice Studios’ Unhinged ($4M opening), Focus Features’ Let Him Go ($4M), Open Road’s Liam Neeson movies Honest Thief and The Marksman (respectively $4.1M and $3.1M), and Universal’s News of the World ($2.25M); and Warners can boast the low-ceiling credit of having Little Things rep the best wide release opening out of that pack, and also for R-rated fare — and that’s with a simultaneous release this past weekend on HBO Max. We’ll assess that whole experiment again in a bit as new intelligence was released this past week.”
As far as theater reopenings amid the virus, Illinois and Chicago re-opened theaters this past weekend, and Boston is reopening with 25% capacity limits starting this week.
