Peter Sarsgaard has opened up about about his role as District Attorney Gil Colson in The Batman.
The 49-year-old actor spoke to Observer about the movie and detailed his intense part in it.
“My part is very intense. On a big show like that my main concern was that I would have to do it 150 times—this intense scene and then that intense scene,” Peter shared. “My character is at nine out of ten for a lot of it. That was going through my head a lot, like ‘How do I maintain this?’”
He also opened up about filming the movie, opposite Robert Pattinson and Zoe Kravitz, which was shut down due to the pandemic.
“The bigger something is the harder it is to keep it pure in terms of vision. And honestly, with Matt Reeves, on The Batman, he can do it… It’s just such a spectacle,” Peter continued. “Even on set it’s kind of amazing to see the total professionalism of everyone in their jobs. It’s all the best people at everything. We were there when all the Academy Award stuff was happening and so many people on that movie were up for or received an Academy Award. It was kind of preposterous. You feel like you’re in great hands.”
The 49-year-old actor, who is set to play Gil Colson, Gotham’s district attorney in the highly anticipated superhero movie, spoke out about the current status of the film amid the pandemic in an interview on SiriusXM’s EW Live on Friday (June 19).
When asked if they’d already completing filming, he said “No.”
“I had a shaved head in that movie and I have not cut my hair or shaved obviously since that movie which I was working on in London at the end of February,” he continued.
“I have a beard, like a large beard, and I was sort of hoping to do [wife] Maggie [Gyllenhaal]‘s movie with the beard, but you know, if I have to go back and shoot Batman before Maggie‘s movie, which I don’t know yet, then I don’t have to be clean-shaven in Maggie‘s movie.”
“We’re gonna go back and finish it…it’s going to take time. Movies like that are way harder. You know, they’ve got so many people on set, so many locations, and moving around and logistical s–t. On Batman, we’re gonna have to have rules…there are tons of people doing so many jobs,” he went on to explain.
He also spoke further about the short film he made with Maggie during quarantine that will be available on Netflix this month.
While making an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday (March 10), the 49-year-old actor talked about preparing for his role as Gil Colson in the new installment of the Batman movie franchise, where he’ll play a political figure with a penchant for lies.
“I’m a District Attorney and I’m basically a politician that has trouble telling the truth,” Peter revealed, later referring to his wife Maggie Gyllenhaal who starred in Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight as assistant district attorney Rachel Dawes.
“I mean hers is so lovely. I’m a pretty distasteful person in it,” Peter continued. “Daddy doesn’t play nice people, you know, typically. Let’s be honest, the guy in this isn’t very nice.”
Peter Sarsgaard also talked about starring in his new series Interrogation on CBS All Access – Watch the trailer HERE!
