Nicolas Cage is opening up about how he helped Johnny Depp get into acting.

During a new interview with The New York Times Magazine, the 55-year-old National Treasure actor says he encouraged the 56-year-old Pirates of the Caribbean actor to act while he was renting his apartment back in the 1980′s.

“We were good friends, and we would play Monopoly, and he was winning a game, and I was watching him and I said, ‘Why don’t you just try acting?’” Nicolas shared.

“He wanted to be a musician at the time, and he told me, ‘No, I can’t act.’ I said, ‘I think you can act,’” Nicolas continued. “So I sent him to meet with my agent. She sent him out on his first audition, which was A Nightmare on Elm Street. He got the part that day. Overnight sensations don’t happen. But it happened with him.”

Johnny Depp then went on book the role of Glen Lantz in the 1984 horror flick before starring in the 21 Jump Street TV series three years later – catapulting his career!

It looks like Nicolas Cage and his new wife Erika Koike are splitting up already.

The 55-year-old actor has filed for an annulment with the makeup artist in Clark County, Nevada, The Blast reports.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Nic applied for a marriage license in Las Vegas, but it turns out that the pair had actually gotten married and that the marriage certificate was originally issued a few days beforehand on March 23.

It is also being reported that Nic is asking for a divorce, if the annulment isn’t possible.

Nic and Erika have been linked to each other since April 2018.

Nicolas Cage showed off his style while stepping out for a screening of Mandy!

The 54-year-old actor hit the red carpet in some red sunglasses on Tuesday evening (September 11) at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles.

He was also joined at the screening by his co-stars Elijah Wood, Linus Roache and Bill Duke as well as producers Josh Waller and Daniel Noah and director Panos Cosmatos.

Mandy follows a broken and haunted man who hunts an unhinged religious sect who slaughtered the love of his life.

The film hits theaters on September 14th.

Nicolas Cage stands out in his zebra-print blazer while on a dinner date with his girlfriend Erika Koike on Monday night (May 21) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The 54-year-old actor also was sporting a thick beard during his latest appearance.

Nicolas recently said that he is preparing to retire from acting in a few years.

“Right now, I’m primarily a film performer and I’m gonna continue doing that for three or four more years and I’d like to focus more on directing,” he recently said (via The Blast).
