Jamie Dornan runs into Ann Skelly in the Irish countryside in the dramatic trailer for their new mini-series, Death and Nightingales.

The three part limited series, based on the novel from Eugene McCabe, is a “riveting story of love, betrayal, deception and revenge, set in the haunting countryside of 1885 Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.”

Death and Nightingales takes place over a desperately tense 24-hour period, it’s Beth Winters’ (Skelly) 23rd birthday – the day she has decided to join the charming Liam Ward (Dornan) and escape from her limited life and difficult Protestant landowner stepfather Billy (Matthew Rhys).

As decades of pain and betrayal build to a devastating climax, Death and Nightingales is a powerful and gripping drama that follows a woman struggling to control her own destiny and will illuminate tensions that tear both families and nations apart.

Death and Nightingales is expected to debut on May 16.

Ann is currently starring on this HBO Max fantasy series.

Longtime couple Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell will be working together again and they’re reteaming with FX for their new project!

Matthew is set to star in the upcoming series Wyrd, based on the four-issue book series that launched in 2019. Keri will be an executive producer on the project alongside her real-life partner.

The project is being developed by Oscar-nominated writer Sheldon Turner and his Vendetta Productions producing partner Jennifer Klein. Also serving as executive producers are Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, and Chris Tongue for Dark Horse.

Deadline reports that Wyrd is the story “of the ultimate immigrant, an extraterrestrial in exile. It centers on Wyrd (Rhys) who was sent to earth in an attempt to better understand humanity. When his people don’t come back for him, he’s forced to assimilate – all while investigating paranormal activity and searching for a way home.”

The project is describes as “James Bond meets The X-Files.”

Matthew and Keri‘s series The Americans previously aired on FX.

Perry Mason is coming back.

HBO is renewing the drama series for a second season, THR confirmed on Wednesday (July 22).

“It has been an exciting journey to work with the immensely talented team behind Perry Mason. Viewers have relished being transported back in time to 1930s Los Angeles each week, and we are thrilled to welcome the show back for a second season,” said HBO’s Francesca Orsi in a statement.

The show was originally pitched as a feature film for Robert Downey Jr.

If you haven’t watched yet, the show “is based on the character from the Erle Stanley Gardner novels — though it takes place before Mason becomes the defense attorney made familiar by the 1957-66 CBS series. In this Los Angeles noir version, Mason is a low-rent private investigator haunted by his wartime experience in France and suffering from a broken marriage.”

The series stars Matthew Rhys as Mason, with Juliet Rylance, Chris Chalk, Shea Whigham, Tatiana Maslany and John Lithgow also on the cast.

The longtime couple kicked back with some beers while enjoying the show! Also in attendance at the event were Succession‘s Nicholas Braun, model Dylan Penn, and Castle Rock‘s Paul Sparks with wife Annie Parisse.

While attending the event, Keri told the New York Post about how she steals Matthew‘s clothes.

“That’s our thing,” she said. “I buy him clothes and then I steal them and wear them.”

“I’ll kind of buy something [for her] and go, oh s–t, that didn’t fit! But it fits me, bingo!” Matthew said in response. “I’m not a shopper. That’s the one thing I don’t do well, and I don’t really adhere to.”

Keri noted that Matthew picked out her outfit for the fashion show!

Keri joined the cast of Star Wars for the new film and this reunites her with director J.J. Abrams, who was the creator of her hit series Felicity. She is playing a character named Zorri Bliss, who is reportedly an old friend of Oscar Isaac‘s Poe Dameron.
