Colbie Caillat and her fiance Justin Young are calling it quits after more than 10 years together.

The Gone West groupmates, ages 34 and 41, respectively, made the announcement on their Instagram pages on Thursday (April 2).

“This is difficult for us to share, but we want to be honest with you all,” Colbie Caillat wrote. “After 10 wonderful years, Justin and I have ended our relationship. We started out as best friends and we will continue to be best friends. And we will continue to work and make music together, as we always have.”

“It will be hard, but often times the hard choice is the right choice and the path that will allow each of us to move forward and to grow,” she added. “We continue to be overwhelmed with gratitude for our love and time together.”

The pair got engaged in May 2015.

Big congratulations are in order for Colbie Caillat – she just got engaged to her boyfriend Justin Young!

The engagement was announced one day after the singer’s 30th birthday, which took place on May 28. The couple has been together for years and Justin plays guitar in her band.

“This sweet man asked me to be his lobster… And I said yes,” Colbie captioned a photo on Facebook. She shared another picture that included her engagement ring in it!

“Lobster” most likely refers to an episode of Friends in which Phoebe tells Ross that Rachel is his lobster.

The singer previously worked with Colbie as her lead guitarist but is now branching out on his own and touring with Trevor Hall this summer.

“This song is three or four years in the making. When we started it, Colbie and I were both kind of shy and even though we were on tour together, we preferred to write via email. Now we have a comfort level that made recording the song and shooting the video fun and relaxed,” Justin tells us about teaming up with his girlfriend, someone he says has “one of my favorite voices ever.”

As for stepping out on his own again, “I’m always preaching to my friends to take that leap of faith and to do what they love,” he shared. “Deep down I knew it was time for me to live by those words again. Now I couldn’t be happier or more excited about what’s to come.”
