Other stars at the premiere included Lakeith Stanfield (wearing Joker makeup!), Billy Zane, Emile Hirsch, along with Jason Momoa and wife Lisa Bonet.

During a recent interview, Joaquin revealed his intense workout to lose 50 pounds for the role in Joker.

When Joker arrives in theaters, police officers will be there, too.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Friday (September 27) that there are plans to increase visibility at theaters upon the opening of the violent Warner Bros. movie.

“The Los Angeles Police Department is aware of public concerns and the historical significance associated with the premiere of Joker. “While there are no credible threats in the Los Angeles area, the department will maintain high visibility around theaters when it opens,” a spokesman said.

In 2012, a shooter killed 12 people and injured 70 people at a screening of The Dark Night Rises in Colorado. The police also confirmed there haven’t been any specific threats, but to remain vigilant.

Warner Bros. has released a statement in response to criticism that the movie Joker has received for the gun violence depicted in the film.

Victims of the Aurora movie theater shooting, which happened during a midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, have called out the studio for releasing a movie with such violence.

“Gun violence in our society is a critical issue, and we extend our deepest sympathy to all victims and families impacted by these tragedies. Our company has a long history of donating to victims of violence, including Aurora, and in recent weeks, our parent company joined other business leaders to call on policymakers to enact bi-partisan legislation to address this epidemic,” the studio said in a statement.

The studio added, “At the same time, Warner Bros. believes that one of the functions of storytelling is to provoke difficult conversations around complex issues. Make no mistake: neither the fictional character Joker, nor the film, is an endorsement of real-world violence of any kind. It is not the intention of the film, the filmmakers or the studio to hold this character up as a hero.”

Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, will be released in theaters on October 4. The movie won the Golden Lion Award at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month.

Joaquin Phoenix is dapper in a suit as he hits the carpet at the premiere of his anticipated film Joker held at Cinema UGC Normandie Son on Monday (September 23) in Paris, France.

The 44-year-old actor got support from Rami Malek, Gaspard Ulliel and Astrid Berges-Frisbey, as well as writer-director of the film Todd Phillips and his girlfriend Alexandra Kravetz.

Joaquin Phoenix is opening up about his diet.

The 44-year-old Joker actor opened up about the extreme lengths he went to play the iconic character in an interview with Access.

Although it was originally reported that the actor only ate an apple a day to drop the weight, he shot down the rumor: “It wasn’t an apple a day. No, you’ve also got lettuce and steamed green beans.”

He also said he worked with a medical professional to lose the weight in a safe manner.

“It’s something I’ve done before and you work with a doctor. It’s all regimented and overseen and safe,” he explained.

He also talked about the temptations: “Todd [Phillips, director] did have these f–king pretzels that I love. And he’d just have bags of them in his office! And that was difficult.”
