Alice Evans is speaking out in response to an article that criticized the way she’s handled her divorce from estranged husband Ioan Gruffudd.

You might remember that Alice broke the news of her split from Ioan in a tweet back in January. At the time, she said that her husband of 20 years “has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week.”

Ioan made the split official in early March by filing for divorce from Alice.

A doctor named Ann Buscho wrote an “open letter” to Alice in which she wondered her the couple’s daughters feel about the publicity from the split.

In her lengthy response, Alice revealed that her daughters don’t read news about their parents and what actually upsets them is that their father abandoned them.

Earlier today (March 2), it was revealed that Ioan Gruffudd had filed for divorce from his wife Alice Evans.

However, the 49-year-old actress revealed on her Instagram that she was made aware of that via an article on The Daily Mail.

Sharing a screenshot on her Instagram page of the headline, and the site’s trademark bullet point summary, Alice reacted to it.

“Oh. Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I guess? 🥺,” she captioned the post.

Alice and Ioan‘s split shocked a lot of fans when Alice made her initial tweet about him leaving their family in January.

A month later, Alice, who is known for her roles in The Originals and Lost, shared with fans that the couple had decided to try out a legal separation.

“We are indeed discussing legal separation, but we are still friends,” she posted.

The 47-year-old Fantastic Four actor has filed for divorce from Alice, 49, according to People.

The couple, who have been together for nearly 20 years, have been married for 13 and share two young daughters, Ella, 11, and Elsie, 7.

Earlier this year, Alice made the sad announcement that Ioan had returned to Los Angeles after filming in Australia and revealed his plans to leave her and their daughters.

“My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week,” Alice wrote at the end of January. “Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me’.”

Following her tweet, Alice opened up to fans in a few other social media posts, and confessed that she “weeps all day” about the future.

According to court documents, first released by The Blast, it’s unclear if Ioan will have joint custody of his and Alice‘s daughters.

The 49-year-old actress first alerted fans about the split last month in a tweet that stated Ioan had announced he was leaving the family.

Now, she has updated fans about the state of her relationship with Ioan.

“I never thought this would happen to us. I am still fighting against it, because I love our kids, and I still love him, but something has happened inside his head and whatever it is, I don’t see him coming back to us,” Alice shared in a heartbreaking post on her Instagram this week.

Posting an image of a heart torn in half, followed by one that said “Game Over”, she stated that the pain of the split “is excruciating but I am stronger than an ox.”

“Though I weep all day when my kids aren’t looking, at night I add up figures and plan futures for us and you know what? I will do those two angels right if it’s all I ever do.! ❤️💕” Alice added.

Alice is speaking of her two daughters Ella and Elsie, whom she shares with Ioan.

Shortly after Alice‘s first tweet was posted and then deleted, the couple made a “joint statement” about their relationship.

This marks one of the first times that the 47-year-old actor has been seen following his dramatic split from wife Alice Evans. He was noticeably still wearing his wedding ring.

Just last week, Alice revealed that Ioan had told her that he was leaving the family and had stopped loving her, in a now deleted tweet. The two had also released a joint statement about the split days afterward.

In a previous sighting, Ioan told press asking about the split that “it’s an extremely difficult time for the family”, according to Daily Mail.

“Our thoughts are with our children obviously right now and I’d really respect a little bit of privacy right now, thank you,” he added.

In another report, a “source” unveiled that Alice and Ioan have been talking through their problems at their home in Los Angeles.

“Ioan has been at home with Alice over the last few days and they spoke for a long time out in the garden,” they shared via The Mirror. “It looked intense and heated at times, but later much more playful. They were laughing and taking pictures and their kids were with them.”

The source added, “It seemed as though they may have made some progress — but, obviously, it has been very frosty for some time especially with her Twitter posts. Alice’s statements made it really clear how tough they have found things over the last few months but their friends all hope they can find a way through this somehow.”

Ioan Gruffudd‘s partner of 20 years, wife Alice Evans, has announced that he has decided to leave their family.

It seems Alice was blindsided by Ioan‘s decision and she says that their daughters are “confused and sad” by the news.

“Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me.’ I’m so sorry,” Alice wrote on Twitter.

Ioan is best known for playing Mister Fantastic in the Fantastic Four movies from 2005 and 2007. He has also starred in such films as W., San Andreas, and most recently, Ava. He also starred in the ABC series Forever and The CW’s Ringer.

The couple met while starring alongside each other in the movie 102 Dalmatians. They got married in 2007 and have two daughters together.
