James Gunn Reacts To Mike Pence Naming Space Force Members 'Guardians'

James Gunn is speaking out after seeing the reveal of what the Space Force plans to call their members.

The newly developed branch of military, which is being led by current Vice President Mike Pence, revealed in an announcement that “Guardians is a name with a long history in space operations, tracing back to the original command motto of Air Force Space Command in 1983, ‘Guardians of the High Frontier.’”

“Soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and guardians will be defending our nation for generations to come,” Mr. Pence shared in an additional statement. “The Space Force is growing strongly every day, and just in the nick of time. Space is a vacuum, but we’re not operating in a vacuum … space is a war-fighting domain. It’s imperative that we invest the resources, the personnel and the technology to defend our nation and defend our values in the outer reaches of space.”

After the announcement, many Twitter users replied with a lot of Guardians of the Galaxy references, which got the attention of James, who directed the Marvel movies that starred Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Dave Bautista and Bradley Cooper as the main team.

However, James is not impressed and slammed the name. He even proposed that Marvel maybe sue the government over it.

Mr. Pence became on of the first members of government to take the coronavirus vaccine this week.

Amanda Seyfried Explains Why She Turned Down Zoe Saldana's Role in 'Guardians of the Galaxy'

Amanda Seyfried could have played the role of Gamora in Guardians of the Galaxy but turned down the part in the James Gunn-directed Marvel film.

Now, she’s explaining why she decided to pass on the smash-hit film.

“I didn’t want to be part of the first Marvel movie that bombed,” Amanda said on THR‘s Awards Chatter podcast. “I said, ‘Who wants to see a movie about a talking tree and a raccoon?’ Which is clearly — I was very wrong.” Worldwide, Guardians made exactly $772,776,600 at the box office, which is considered a massive success!

“The script was great, it was all based in not wanting to be ‘that guy,’” Amanda continued. “Because if you are the star of a giant movie like that, and it bombs, Hollywood does not forgive you. I’ve seen that happen to people and it was a giant, giant fear and I thought, is it worth it?”

The role eventually went to Zoe Saldana, who has portrayed Gamora in several movies now.
