Fran Drescher Opens Up About Having a 'Friend with Benefits'

Fran Drescher is happily single right now, but that doesn’t mean she’s celibate.

The 62-year-old The Nanny actress says that she has a friend with benefits who comes over once or twice a month for some fun.

“You know I’m kind of dating myself and it’s going quite well. I’m not dating,” she told Page Six. “I have my gay ex-husband who I love and he fulfills a lot of needs. I have someone on the side who is a friend with benefits.”

“It’s delightful and delicious but I’ve got a big life,” Fran said. She only sees her friend with benefits once or twice a month due to their busy schedules.

“[We’re] very comfortable with each other and we have our routine,” she said. “It’s always the same experience. We really don’t go out, we don’t go to restaurants, we don’t date. What we do, we do great.”

“He comes over, we hang out and we do the hot tub and I make us some food and we lay in bed and maybe we’ll watch tennis together, whatever it is or a movie. We talk, we have good conversations,” Fran said. “Of course we have sex and it’s delightful and it keeps me going.”

Fran was married to Peter Marc Jacobson for 21 years. They got divorced in 1999 after he came out as gay, but they remain close friends to this day. See photos of them in the gallery!

Fran Drescher & Rachel Bloom Are Developing 'The Nanny' Broadway Musical!

The Nanny is being re-imagined for Broadway!

The popular ’90s sitcom, fronted by Fran Drescher, is being developed into a Broadway musical, with Fran and series co-creator Peter Marc Jacobson writing the book and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom and Adam Schlesinger writing the music.

“We are SO excited to be working on the Broadway musical The Nanny. We’re equally excited that the wildly talented Rachel Bloom will be writing the lyrics and music with the fantastic Adam Schlesinger, and to have the brilliant Marc Bruni directing. Nobody is cast yet – we’re plotting – but we feel confident we will find a fabulous actress who is funny, charming and has a great voice, said Fran and Peter in a statement.

“Of course I would do it myself but we’d have to change the title to The Granny,” Fran added.

The Nanny was a fundamental part of my childhood because it was the first time I saw an openly Jewish female protagonist on television. The story of Fran Fine, however, is a universal one that has touched the hearts of people of every race, religion and orientation. I am so proud to be using the characters established by The Nanny to tell a new story about one woman’s journey to becoming proud of who she is and what makes her different,” said Rachel.

Sophia Bush, Busy Philipps & More Celebrate at Edie Parker Flower's Party!

Fran Drescher, Erin Foster, Sophia Bush, Kitty Cash, Busy Philipps and Charli XCX all got together for a photograph while attending Edie Parker Flower’s The Garden of Edie Party held at Eric Buterbaugh Perfumery on Tuesday (July 30) in West Hollywood.

The ladies were also joined at the event by Baby2Baby co-founder Kelly Sawyer, Joy Bryant and stylist Jamie Mizrahi as they stepped out in support of designer Brett Heyman, founder of luxury cannabis brand Edie Parker Flower and premium accessories brand Edie Parker.

“Some of them are old friends,” said Heyman after posing for photographs with the women (via WWD). “Sophia [Bush] is an old friend, and Erin [Foster] is an old friend. Fran we invited, because she’s a very vocal cannabis advocate — same with Busy [Philipps].”

“We were expanding our home line, thinking about entertaining at home and hostess gifts — the use of cannabis is often part of my entertaining at home — thinking about what was available for women who are unblushingly feminine and love beautiful things and had the craftsmanship that our accessories have, and that’s how the idea started,” continued Heyman. “It has the same ethos as our accessories brand, which is for a good time — beautiful pieces that make you happy. And then, we wanted to make a really high-quality flower to go with it.”

FYI: Busy is wearing a Silvia Tcherassi dress.
