Eddie Izzard Says She's Not Going To Be Actively Looking For Female Roles

Eddie Izzard suits up with a bowtie for the premiere of her new movie, Six Minutes to Midnight, held at De La Warr Pavilion on Monday (March 29) in Bexhill, England.

The movie, which was co-written by Eddie, centers young women who were sent to a finishing school in an English seaside town to learn the language and be ambassadors for a future looking National Socialist.

A teacher there sees what is coming and is trying to raise the alarm. But the authorities believe he is the problem.

The movie is out now, and streaming on Amazon Prime.

In a new interview with Huffington Post, Eddie revealed that she’s not actively seeking out female roles, following the reveal that she used she/her pronouns.

“It’ll probably still be male roles I’m doing in films,” Eddie said, adding that she doesn’t think she’ll look to pick up female roles.

Instead, Eddie is focused on writing other stories and knows there’s space for more trans representation.

“I think there is a transgender action hero type character, which I think should be coming out somewhere in the future,” she teases. “I always was a tomboy. I was a boy tomboy, now I’m a girl tomboy. I was always fighting, scrapping, running, jumping, climbing trees. The tomboy aspect of me hasn’t moved an inch.”

Eddie Izzard Defends JK Rowling, Says She Doesn't Think the Author is Transphobic

Eddie Izzard is weighing in on the controversy regarding JK Rowling‘s comments about the trans community.

If you missed it, the 58-year-old English comic recently came out as gender fluid while announcing that she prefers using she/her pronouns.

Last year, the 55-year-old Harry Potter author came under fire when she made comments about gender, that were widely viewed as transphobic.

In a new interview, Eddie defended JK, while also saying that she doesn’t think the author is transphobic.

“I don’t think J.K. Rowling is transphobic,” Eddie shared with The Telegraph. “I think we need to look at the things she has written about in her blog. Women have been through such hell over history. Trans people have been invisible, too.”

Eddie continued: “I hate the idea we are fighting between ourselves, but it’s not going to be sorted with the wave of a wand. I don’t have all the answers. If people disagree with me, fine, but why are we going through hell on this?”

Harry Potter stars, including Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, all shared statements denouncing JK‘s comments, while showing their support for the trans community.

However, this one Harry Potter actor did defend JK Rowling amid the controversy.

Eddie Izzard Identifies As Gender Fluid & Announces She Will Go By She/Her Pronouns

Eddie Izzard is trending on social media today for a powerful reason.

The 58-year-old British comic opened up in a new interview that they are now going by she and her pronouns after identifying as gender fluid.

During a sitting for Sky Arts’ Portrait Artist Of The Year, Eddie revealed she was embracing all the “facets that make her unique”, EW reported.

“I try to do things that I think are interesting, and this is the first program I’ve asked if I can be she and her. A little transition period,” Eddie shared with Curtis Holder, the artist whose painting won the competition.

She added, “Well it feels great, because people just assume that they just know me from before but I’m gender fluid. I just want to be based in girl mode from now on.”

Fans online are embracing Eddie‘s reevaluation and sharing their support.

Eddie‘s pronoun usage follows Elliot Page‘s announcement that he was transgender earlier in the month.

Eddie Izzard Struts Out of LAX in a Short Skirt & Stiletto Boots

Eddie Izzard makes an exit out of LAX Airport on Thursday afternoon (July 18) in Los Angeles.

The 57-year-old actor and comedian arrived into town on a flight from France. Eddie was seen strutting out of the airport in a leather jacket, a black top and skirt, and black stiletto boots.

Eddie will likely be at Comic-Con this weekend to promote the new Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.

A couple years ago, Eddie opened up about coming out as transgender and how that affects getting roles in Hollywood.

“I am essentially transgender. I have boy mode and girl mode. I do feel I have boy genetics and girl genetics. I have played one transgender character. I will play hopefully more transgender roles in the future, but there are a lot of boy genetics in me so I am happy to play boy roles. It would be great if more transgender actors can play more transgender characters,” Eddie told THR.
