Earlier in the week, Dakota was spotted having a beach day with boyfriend Chris Martin, and his children, Apple and Moses, who he shares with actress Gwyneth Paltrow.

The foursome looked like they were having a ton of fun, playing playing paddle ball and lounging in the sand.

It was also just announced that Dakota will be starring in the upcoming mockumentary, Rodeo Queens.

The new series follows an ensemble of Rodeo Queen hopefuls as they compete for the coveted crown.

She has booked the lead role in an upcoming Amazon Prime comedy series about rodeo queens, she did a funny interview with Jimmy Kimmel to promote her new film The High Note, and she has been active on social media speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter amid protests around the world.

Dakota Johnson is taking on a really fun new role!

The 30-year-old Fifty Shades actress is set to executive produce and star in Rodeo Queens, a mockumentary comedy series being developed with Amazon Studios, Deadline reported on Wednesday (June 10).

Christy Hall, the co-creator and executive producer of Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This, created the series and will serve as showrunner, and Portlandia co-creator Carrie Brownstein is directing.

Here’s an early description: “The new series, which will soon open its writers room, follows an ensemble of Rodeo Queen hopefuls as they compete for the coveted crown.”

Tracee Ellis Ross and Dakota Johnson‘s new movie The High Note is now available to rent at home on demand and the film includes a scene that sheds light on what it’s like to be a black woman in the music industry.

In the film, Tracee plays Grace Davis, a huge music star who hasn’t released an album in years, and Dakota plays her personal assistant, who is also an aspiring music producer.

In the exclusive clip that we’re premiering on JustJared.com, Dakota‘s character Maggie tries to convince Grace that she should record a new album.

Grace responds by explaining what it’s like to be a black woman of a certain age in the music industry. She says, “In the history of music, only five women over 40 have ever had a number one hit. And only one of them was black. One. Do you understand that? No, you do not understand that and none of you guys in there understand what I’ve been through. So, I don’t know. We can just pretend. We can pretend we live in some sort of magical world where I don’t know, age and race are not a thing.”

The 30-year-old Fifty Shades actress posted a message on Tuesday (May 2) to her Instagram amid protests against police brutality and systemic racism nationwide after the murder of George Floyd.

“It is mind bending, horrifying and completely unacceptable that any human being fear for their life or lose their life because of the color of their skin. Enough is enough. Join me in donating to the links above. Let’s wake up and stay awake to the reality of this world, and the insidious disease of racism in our culture and corrupt government,” she wrote.

“Let’s raise awareness. Let’s take peaceful action. Let’s VOTE corrupt politicians out of office. Let’s educate ourselves and educate our children. Beyond this week or this year or this lifetime, forever and forever instill knowledge, compassion, equality, and oneness. Nurture and illuminate the hearts around you towards a more wise and morally evolved humanity,” she continued.
