Cynthia Erivo Teases Upcoming Hollywood Bowl Concert & What's to Come in Her Career

Cynthia Erivo poses for photos while hosting an intimate dinner with Saks at the Parrish Art Museum on Wednesday (July 14) in Water Mill, N.Y.

Joining the Oscar-nominated actress at the event were fashion designer Christopher John Rogers and Saks CEO Marc Metrick.

The just received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her work in the NatGeo series Genius: Aretha.

Later this month, Cynthia will be performing a concert at the legendary Hollywood Bowl with the L.A. Philharmonic and she teased the show in a new interview.

The stars are stepping out for the Rhude fashion show!

Cynthia Erivo was all smiles while sitting next to Lena Waithe and model Slick Woods front row at the fashion show on Wednesday evening (June 23) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

BAFTAs 2021 - Every Look from the Red Carpet!

The 2021 BAFTA Awards are in full swing!

The annual celebration of film and television, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, is happening at Royal Albert Hall on Sunday (April 11) in London, United Kingdom.

There are already a bunch of stars in attendance (in person!) at the ceremony. Big nominees this year include Nomadland, which is nominated for a whopping seven awards this year including best film, best director, adapted screenplay, leading actress, cinematography, editing and sound.

Cynthia Erivo Is Teasing What Her Blue Fairy Role Will Be Like in 'Pinocchio'

Cynthia Erivo is teasing a few details about her Blue Fairy role in the upcoming live-action film, Pinocchio.

The -year-old Genius: Aretha actress opened up in her with Variety‘s “Just for Variety” podcast interview about the creative freedom she has for the vision of Blue Fairy.

“You might be right, you know. They really have given me carte blanche,” she told Marc Mankin. “[However, there is] a creative idea which is really, really beautiful. I don’t want to spoil it but it’s really lovely.”

Cynthia and her “hair and makeup team going over it. Terrell [Mullin], my makeup artist, is making eyelashes currently. I know that already it’s a different aesthetic, because it’s me — this bald-headed Black girl.”

While Cynthia is remaining mum on the movie and her character right now, she is excited to be joining other Black celebrities in iconic Disney roles.

“I’m really excited about it,” she says. “We don’t have very many Black fairies. I’m very proud to be joining the ranks with Yara Shahidi [playing Tinker Bell in Peter Pan] and I’m very proud we’re getting to join the ranks of Disney with Halle Bailey, who’s playing the Little Mermaid. It’s kind of awesome.”

Cynthia Erivo Dishes On Playing Aretha Franklin The Same Time as Jennifer Hudson

Cynthia Erivo is opening up about playing Aretha Franklin in a new interview, and also chatting about pal Jennifer Hudson playing the legendary singer in a different project.

“I felt like I had a responsibility to try and tell the story as fully and as truthfully and as honestly as it possibly could,” the 34-year-old actress and singer shared during an appearance on Daily Pop.

Cynthia will star on Genius as the singer, which focuses on Aretha‘s career as it skyrocketed in the 1960s and 1970s.

She called the role “daunting, yes. But also, really exciting.”

Cynthia also dished on what it’s been to star as Aretha on the small screen at the same time as Jennifer, who will play the singer in Respect.

“I’m greedy. So, any Aretha I can get, I’m getting,” she says, and adds that she wants “to hear Aretha coming out of Jennifer’s mouth. Those two have a really special relationship.”

She continued, “It’s something that we as Black women barely get so, to have her celebrated like this is so cool.”

Genius is set to premiere on National Geographic in four parts starting on Sunday, March 21 @ 9/8c. Check out the final trailer for the series here…

Cynthia Erivo stuns in a gorgeous gown for the 2021 Critics Choice Awards, airing on Sunday (March 7).

The 34-year-old actress wore a stunning Vera Wang dress with Tiffany & Co. jewelry for the virtual ceremony, and was styled by Jason Bolden.

Cynthia was up for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role in The Outsider, along with Gillian Anderson, Julia Garner, Janet McTeer, Wunmi Mosaku and Rhea Seehorn.
