The 73-year-old composer announced on Monday (July 19) that he had decided not to open the show one day before it was set to premiere after a member of the cast tested positive for COVID-19.

Amazon Debuts First Look of Camila Cabello as Cinderella in Upcoming Movie Musical!

Amazon has debuted the first look of Camila Cabello in her feature film debut as the title character in Cinderella!

The 24-year-old singer will be playing Cinderella in a brand new movie musical opposite Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Charming.

The musically-driven movie tells the story of an ambitious young woman (Cabello), whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow, but with the help of her Fab G (Billy Porter), she is able to persevere and make her dreams come true.

Also starring in the movie are Idina Menzel, Minnie Driver, and Pierce Brosnan. The movie will be released on Amazon Prime Video in over 240 countries this September.

The musical will feature covers of pop songs from contemporary global artists and original songs by Camila and Idina.

Camila Cabello‘s new movie has found a home!

The highly anticipated live-action Cinderella movie will be heading to Amazon Prime, Deadline reported Thursday (May 6).

Amazon Studios is closing a deal to acquire worldwide rights to the movie, directed by Kay Cannon, from Sony Pictures.

The movie is set to premiere later in 2021.

It was originally set to hit theaters in July, but the pandemic and theater audience uncertainty has shuffled the date and caused the studio to skip a theatrical debut for now. The Amazon deal is similar to ones they’ve done for films like Fatherhood and Vivo.

Todrick Hall & Brandy Team Up for 'Cinderella' Medley Ahead of The Film's Release on Disney+ - Watch Now!

Todrick Hall is getting us so excited for the release of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella on Disney+!

Ahead of the 1997 movie finally being available for streaming, the 35-year-old singer and choreographer teamed up with the movie’s star Brandy to perform a medley of songs from the movie.

In the music video, Todrick and Brandy start off by singing the song “Impossible” in his house, before Brandy gets all dressed up in her iconic Cinderella ballgown for a choreographed dance in a ballroom.

Fellow Cinderella cast members that made appearances in the video included Victor Garber (King Maximillian), Paolo Montalbán (Prince Christopher), Jason Alexander (Lionel), Veanne Cox (Calliope), Bernadette Peters (Stepmother), and Whoopi Goldberg (Queen Constantina).

“In 1997 I saw ‘Cinderella’ starring Brandy and it changed my life! It is THE REASON why I started singing and dancing and pursuing Broadway, so when @brandy agreed to sing with me, my fairy tale dream came true. I am living proof that dreams really do come true!” Todrick tweeted along with the release of the video.

If you missed it, Brandy recently teased that she has something in the works involving around her Cinderella movie.

Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella will be available on Disney+ “at the stroke of midnight” (Pacific Time aka 3am Eastern Time) on Friday, February 12!

The 41-year-old singer-songwriter appeared on The View on Thursday (February 4) to make the exciting announcement that Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella will stream on Disney+ on February 12.

The classic 1997 televised movie musical stars Brandy, Whitney Houston and Whoopi Goldberg, who was on hand to join in the big announcement.

The movie will be available “at the stroke of midnight” on Friday, February 12.

The original premiered to sixty million viewers during The Wonderful World of Disney on ABC and became an instant fan favorite, including an array of songs like “Impossible,” “In My Own Little Corner,” “Ten Minutes Ago,” “A Lovely Night,” “Do I Love You Because You’re Beautiful?” and more.

Here’s a plot summary: “in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, when Cinderella’s cruel stepmother prevents her from attending the Royal Ball, she gets some unexpected help from her Fairy Godmother.”

The 1997 movie was directed by Robert Iscove, and will join the “Celebrate Black Stories” collection that is on Disney+ alongside Soul, Black Is King, Black Panther, Hidden Figures and more. There’s also a very exciting Disney+ series in the works!
