Carrie Coon Was Supposed to Appear in 'Avengers: Endgame' After Her Character's Death in 'Infinity War'

Carrie Coon is looking back at her role in Avengers!

The 39-year-old actress played the villainous Proxima Midnight, who helps Thanos (Josh Brolin) in his search for the Infinity Stones in the 2018 movie Avengers: Infinity War. In the movie, her character is killed by Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

Despite being killed off, Carrie reveals that directors Anthony and Joe Russo invited her back to appear in the final movie Avengers: Endgame, which was released in 2019.

However, Carrie had to turn down the chance to return due to a scheduling conflict.

During a new interview with PeopleTV’s Couch Surfing, Carrie opened up about the very secretive audition process she went through for her role in Infinity War.

It first started with just a voice-over role, but the Russo brothers were such a big fan of hers that they asked her to do more.

“I got a voice-over audition; it was not specified what the project was. They were being very secretive about it, but I was given some of the lines that did end up being in the film,” Carrie shared. “[The Russos] were excited about the possibility of me actually physicalizing the character as well, and they invited me to come down to Atlanta. I was pregnant and doing a play at the time, so I flew down and was on set with them for about 12 hours.”

Later in the interview, Carrie joked that she could reprise her role of Proxima Midnight in another Marvel movie.

“No one ever dies. It’s very possible I could have my own Avengers movie next,” Carrie joked. “But I wouldn’t hold your breath.”
