Carey Mulligan to Play Bradley Cooper's Wife in Leonard Bernstein Biopic

Carey Mulligan will be starring opposite Bradley Cooper in the upcoming Netflix Leonard Bernstein biopic Maestro!

The 35-year-old actress will portray Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein in the movie, who was married to Leonardo Bernstein. If you don’t know much about Leonard, he is a world-famous composer best known for his Broadway musical West Side Story. Bradley will take on the title role.

Bradley is also directing and writing the screenplay and shooting will begin in the spring, Deadline reports.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that Carey Mulligan will play our mother in Maestro,” the Bernstein kids said in a statement. “Carey will surely capture Felicia’s unique combination of wit, warmth, elegant beauty, and depth of emotion. We also love the way Carey conveys a kind of storybook European grace, which was something our mother embodied as well.”

It had been months and months since we had last seen Carey Mulligan out and about but we just recently spotted her!

Carey was at Sundance earlier this year to premiere her movie Promising Young Woman, which was supposed to be released in theaters this past April. The release was delayed amid the pandemic and there still is not a release date planned.

While Carey was in London at the beginning of the pandemic, it appears she’s now staying in Los Angeles. She gave an interview back in May about what she has been up to during the quarantine.

Carey Mulligan's 'Skincare Savior' Is This Fan Favorite Facial Massager

Carey Mulligan is revealing one product she absolutely swears by that might not yet be a part of your beauty routine: the Joanna Czech facial massager! We shopped online for the product and found it at Violet Grey.

The 35-year-old actress told InStyle that the face roller is one of her “skincare saviors!”

Joanna is a “go-to resource for celebrities looking for poreless skin and chiseled cheekbones” and her skincare roller is an absolute fan favorite. The massager promises to help get serums deeper into your skin, while helping to “boost circulation and elasticity, and drain and sculpt the face. The result: firmer, tighter, better skin.”

We found the product online at retailer Violet Grey! Be sure to check it out to add something new to your routine.

This great video shows just how well the massager works!

Carey Mulligan Reveals What She's Been Doing at Home Amid Quarantine

Carey Mulligan is on the cover of InStyle‘s June 2020 issue, out now.

Here’s what the 34-year-old Promising Young Woman actress had to say…

On her definition of ambition: “I get whiplash thinking about the last 16 years. My dream was to be a working actress, but my expectation was maybe I’ll be in Casualty or The Bill. And then suddenly I got really lucky and just kept it up. For me, ambition is testing myself. As an actor, you’re always trying to prove that you can do different things. I have a fear of recognition and celebrity, though, so I don’t have ambition to be well known. But I want to be really good at my job. I always want the next thing I do to be more nuanced, more interesting, more complicated.”

On how having a family changed her mindset: “I have the best job in the world, but I’ve learned that it isn’t the be-all and end-all. As someone who finds the public side of this quite intimidating, having a family has made me feel that if I wear a dress that people hate, or if I say something stupid, or if people don’t like a film I’ve been in, it doesn’t matter as much as it used to. It’s freeing, in a way.”

On what she’s been doing at home: “I’ve been using Houseparty with my two best friends every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. We’ve all got kids, so we put the TV on for them and sit in bed with a big cup of coffee and catch up, which has been quite nice…we’ve gone back into comfort mode and started to eat more casseroles. When the world is chaotic, you need warm food. [laughs] Variations on casseroles. That will be my cookbook.”

Carey Mulligan Hosts Alzheimer's Society Annual Carol Concert In Honor of Her Grandmother!

Carey Mulligan strikes a pose while hosting the Alzheimer’s Society’s 2019 “Carols At Christmas” Concert Benefit held at the Southwark Cathedral on Wednesday (December 18) in London, England.

The 34-year-old actress hosted the event in memory of her beloved grandmother, ‘Nans’ who had dementia. “I have had the privilege of being an Ambassador for Alzheimer’s Society for a number of years now,” she said. “And I know just how enormously dedicated the charity is to helping thousands of people with dementia every year.”

“People living with dementia and their families often feel alone and don’t have enough support,” Carey continued in a statement. “I’m proud to see the developments in research, but while we power progress for a cure, everyone affected by dementia must have somewhere to turn to for help and advice. Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Helpline is a lifeline to so many people, but it can only cope with increasing demand through donations, which is why I’m honored to be a part of such a fabulous event this evening. Dementia is heartbreaking, but it is possible to live well with dementia. Nans taught me that.”

“This Christmas, if you have a loved one with dementia, spend time with them,” Carey concluded. “Love them, the same way you always have. And please, if you can, give a Christmas gift to Alzheimer’s Society so we can make sure no one with dementia faces it alone.”
