Cardi B Reveals the Stars She Wants to Be Like After Previously Looking Up to 'Nobody'

Cardi B has previously said that she doesn’t look up to anyone in the entertainment industry, but now she’s changing her tune.

The 28-year-old “WAP” rapper gave an interview to Stationhead this week and talked about the stars she looks up to now.

“When I came to the game and people used to be like, ‘Who do you look up to?’ I always used to say, ‘I don’t look up to nobody,’ because I didn’t really understand the game and I only feel like I got influenced by the people that was around me,” Cardi said.

“But now that I’m at the level that I’m at, one of my biggest influences is Rihanna and Jay-Z,” she added. “And I’m not just saying it to kiss ass or anything. I just feel like they’re so influential because Rihanna comes from a country, a Caribbean country, that my parents came from and she’s a whole billionaire.”

Cardi hopes to reach the same level of success as Rihanna and Jay.

“But for her to make her business so big and be a billionaire, that’s what I strive to be. That’s what I want. I want to be a billion-dollar woman. I want to build a huge brand,” she said. “And Jay-Z, he’s from the hood just like me. He’s from the hood and this man’s a whole billionaire. And that’s just all about strategy and that’s just all about shaking hands, that’s just all about putting plans together.”

Cardi took to social media this week to respond to criticism of her “WAP” performance at the Grammys.

Cardi B Responds To Candace Owens' Rant About Her 'WAP' Grammy Performance With Megan Thee Stallion

Cardi B is going head to head with Candace Owens on Twitter after the commentator voiced her opinion about the rapper’s latest performance of “WAP” at the 2021 Grammys.

It all started in a segment on Fox News on Monday night (March 15), when Tucker Carlson and Candace sounded off on the performance, which also featured Best New Artist winner Megan Thee Stallion.

“You see that fundamentally we are seeing the destruction of American values and American principles. And it’s terrifying!” Candace shared on the network. “Parents should be terrified that this is the direction that our society is heading towards. Again, we are weakening America…. We are setting the stage, and it feels like we are looking at corrosion, like we are about to see the end of an empire.”

However, Cardi didn’t seem to mind that the performance was a talking point on Fox. In fact, she celebrated it.

The heated conversation was only just starting. Following the broadcast, Cardi poked fun at “Candy” and thanked her for boosting the YouTube video of her Grammys performance, which has now amassed 4.7 million views and is the No. 1 trending video on the platform.

“STREAM UP AND WAP .REMEMBER GROWN PARENTS ONLY YOU CAN MONITOR WHAT YOUR KIDS WATCH NO1 ELSE,” she wrote.

Cardi B Praises Lesser Known Black Artists Amid Grammys 2021 Drama

Cardi B is weighing in on the drama surrounding the Grammys.

After The Weeknd, Zayn Malik, and Justin Bieber all publicly slammed the music awards show, the 28-year-old “Bodak Yellow” rapper released a statement on Twitter praising all of the lesser known Black artists that got nominated this year, saying that she doesn’t want them to be overshadowed by all of the drama.

“How I feel about the Grammy’s! I do feel that there were some albums and songs that should have been considered for nominations maybe by next year they will get it right,” Cardi started. “However, let’s not forget the Grammy’s nominated soo many independent black artists this year that don’t get the exposure by blogs, magazines. and other award shows like Chika, D Smoke, Royce 5’9, Freddie Gibbs, Jay Electronica, Kaytrananda, Brittany Howard, Mykal Kilgore, Ledisi, Jean & Marcus Baylor, Luke James, Gregory Porter, Giveon, Any Clemons, Robert Glasper, Free Nationals & Thundercat and so much more.”

She continued, “It’s frustrating sometimes to work and work on your craft and you feel overlooked because you might not look like others, are not mixxy so you not always around other artists, you rap or sing about different material, you stay out of drama and the media or yet still not as popular however you’re talented ass [sic] f–k and one day you wake up and you find out you’re nominated and got a notice from one of the biggest award shows purely cause of your TALENT!”

“Soo besides all the bulls–t let’s not forget to congratulate these artists,” Cardi concluded. “This is their moment too and they been working their asses off with no exposure and let’s not overshadow it with feelings cause your favorite might not be on the list. Congrats guys and good luck on the Grammys. You deserve it.”

Back when the nominations for the 2021 Grammys were released, fans were surprised that Cardi‘s mega-hit “WAP” wasn’t nominated for anything. She then explained why she decided not to submit the song for consideration.

Cardi B Does Not Want Selena Gomez To Retire From Music & Wants To Give Her Ideas

Cardi B is not here for Selena Gomez thinking about retiring from music.

Selena, 28, opened up about that the thought of retirement had crossed her mind in her recent Vogue cover story.

“It’s hard to keep doing music when people don’t necessarily take you seriously,” she shared. “I’ve had moments where I’ve been like, ‘What’s the point? Why do I keep doing this?’ ‘Lose You to Love Me’ I felt was the best song I’ve ever released, and for some people it still wasn’t enough.”

Selena added, “I think the next time I do an album it’ll be different. I want to give it one last try before I maybe retire music.”

After reading Selena‘s statement, Cardi took to social media to tell her there’s no way she was giving up.

Cardi went on, giving some support to Selena after a few haters said that she should retire because she’s not an amazing singer.
