You’ll get to see the upcoming pandemic thriller Songbird a lot sooner than expected!
The movie, which was produced by Michael Bay, was the first film to shoot in Los Angeles entirely during the pandemic. It will skip a theatrical release and be released on premium video on-demand (PVOD) on December 11.
Songbird will be available for a 48-hour rental at the price of $19.99. The movie will be available on a major streaming service in 2021.
STXfilms chairman Adam Fogelson said, “The pandemic has affected every aspect of our business, from production to release, but Songbird demonstrates that a nimble studio like STX can find effective and profitable ways to make their movies work, as we have similarly with Greenland and My Spy during these challenging times. The show must go on. Songbird is a thrilling movie that will speak to audiences in this moment as it keeps them on the edge of their seats.”
The cast of The West Wing has reunited for a special that will debut on HBO Max next week, with weeks to go until the general election.
The special marks the first time in 17 years that the original cast has reunited with creator Aaron Sorkin. They got together to reenact the “Hartsfield’s Landing” episode from season three on a theatrical stage.
The creative team and cast organized this historic production in order to raise awareness for and support the vital mission of When We All Vote, a non-profit, nonpartisan organization co-chaired by Michelle Obama which was founded to increase participation in every election in America. In honor of the special, WarnerMedia will make a donation to When We All Vote.
Also photographed arriving at the taping was Sterling K. Brown, who will have a new role in the special.
Not seen arriving at the taping was Dulé Hill, but he will be a part of the reunion.
The cast will appear for the theatrical stage presentation of Season 3 episode “Hartsfield’s Landing” with director and executive producer Thomas Schlamme for the special, plus guest appearances and a message from the former first lady, Michelle Obama.
The episode first aired in February of 2002, and features President Bartlet (Sheen) engaging Sam (Lowe) and Toby (Schiff) in chess games that mirror his brinksmanship with the Chinese government; Josh (Whitford) sweating the results of primary voting in a tiny New Hampshire town; and C.J. (Janney) and Charlie (Hill) facing off in a prank war.
A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will air on HBO Max on October 15. The special is a benefit for When We All Vote, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that aims to increase voter participation.
