The show, which also stars Reese Witherspoon, Zoë Kravitz, Shailene Woodley and Laura Dern, is based on the 2014 novel by Liane Moriarty.

Reese and I talk or text once a week. She’s just moved back to Nashville and we’re really close. We all just want to work together again. I texted Zoë and Laura, and they’re in. David and Liane have a really good idea for it. Watch this space!” she teased.

“You have to ask Reese [Witherspoon],” she said, adding that they “were just texting…it would take a great story.”

“That’s what we’re going to see if we can do, but right now it’s certainly more of a dream than it is a reality. Sorry to say, but maybe one day.”

Nicole Kidman & Reese Witherspoon Hint at 'Big Little Lies' Season 3!

Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon are hoping for a third season of Big Little Lies!

The co-stars dishes on the show’s current season but wouldn’t reveal too much information because they want questions to be answered in season three!

“It’s so important not to discuss all of the intricacies of this, because if we do a season 3, there’s going to be things that will be explained. It’s probably better to allow just a little mystery. I know the voracious appetite for knowledge and to leave no stone unturned. But I’m always going to fight for just a little bit…there can be a few mysteries and secrets held intact,” Nicole told EW.

Reese continued, “I totally agree! If there are conversations still to be had, I think that’s really what determines if we can tell a season 3. Is it as good as season 1 and 2? Does the audience still have questions? Do we have answers?”

Nicole added the another season would be up to the group – including Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern.

“It’s a collaboration. We work as a group. We are incredibly tight; we talk to each other, and we are on each other’s side. So, we will decide as a group. We listen to the way in which people react because so much of TV is a very immediate medium. Every single person who has made this has said this show is bigger than any single one of us,” Nicole concluded.

One 'Big Little Lies' Character Was Supposed to Die in the Finale

If you watched the Big Little Lies finale, you know that no characters die before, during, or after Celeste’s courtroom battle with Mary Louise Wright.

Actress Poorna Jagannathan, who portrayed the lawyer representing Nicole Kidman‘s Celeste in court, revealed that her version of the script had someone dying at the end.

“I read the script and I watched [the season finale] episode and I was like, ‘Oh my god there might be a season three!’ ” Poorna said on Vanity Fair’s Still Watching podcast. “It’s not the script I got!”

She continued, “One character doesn’t even make it. One character dies. It’s a different script. This version left the door open on something I thought was definitely closed.”

Poorna declined to name which character met her demise.

We didn’t think a third season was realistic, based on some recent comments, but maybe there’s hope with this new development!

The season finale aired last night and there was never a scene where the women go to Perry’s grave. If you follow Shailene on Instagram, then you knew a few days ago that she was lying.

“TOO LATE TO TELL YOU THAT WAS JUST… one… big. little. lie? @jimmykimmellive,” Shailene wrote on her Instagram page. “as IF i’d give anything away …👅.”
