Broadway Stars Come Together in Times Square, Shutdown to Extend to Mid-2021

So many great Broadway stars came together in New York City this week to film a performance to give people hope for the return of live theater!

Bernadette Peters and Andrew Rannells were among the stars who participated in NYCNext’s A Moment for Broadway event on Wednesday (October 7) in NYC’s Times Square.

Also in attendance were Gavin Creel, Telly Leung, Carolee Carmello, Norm Lewis, Javier Munoz, Joel Grey, Eden Espinosa, Sierra Boggess, Kate Baldwin, Stark Sands, Jennifer Damiano, Ari’el Stachel, Andrea Burns, among others.

Some unfortunate news was just revealed about Broadway.

NBC New York is reporting that the Broadway League is going to announce on Friday that Broadway will not return until May 30, 2021, at the earliest.

Broadway shows have been shut down since March 13, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shutdown was supposed to end in January 2021, but now will be extended as the pandemic is still not under control and it’s not safe for thousands of people to sit in an indoor theater together.

The productions that come back to Broadway will return across a series of rolling dates.

So Many Stars Attended the Opening Night of Broadway's 'Girl from the North Country'

The opening night performance of the new Broadway musical Girl from the North Country had so many stars on the red carpet on Thursday (March 5) at the Belasco Theatre in New York City.

It was date night for married couples Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita, and Michael C. Hall and Morgan Macgregor.

More stars in attendance included James Van Der Beek, Ben Platt and his former Dear Evan Hansen co-star Michael Park, Corey Stoll, Brooke Shields, Jesse Eisenberg, Tony Shalhoub, Bernadette Peters, Jane Krakowski, Martha Plimpton, Rosie O’Donnell, Kathy Najimy, Mary-Louise Parker, Brian D’Arcy James, Alysia Reiner, Sophia Anne Caruso, and Wesley Taylor.

Girl from the North Country, which features the songs of Bob Dylan, is now playing on Broadway. The New York Times gave it a rave review and noted it as a Critic’s Pick.

Christina Hendricks, Matthew Morrison & Cheyenne Jackson Step Out for Thespians Go Hollywood Gala!

Christina Hendricks keeps it chic while striking a pose on the red carpet at the 2019 Thespians Go Hollywood Gala held at Avalon Hollywood on Monday (November 18) in Los Angeles.

The 44-year-old Good Girls star was joined at the event by Cheyenne Jackson, Matthew Morrison, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Sean Hayes, Megan Hilty, Nia Vardalos and Bernadette Peters.

The Thespians Go Hollywood gala is put on by the Educational Theatre Foundation to support financial access and equity in school theater education programs.

Christina, Matthew and more helped pay tribute to Tony legend Bernadette Peters who was being honored with the Craig Zadan Theatre for Life Award. The award is named after the late producer Zadan, who received the award posthumously last year along with producing partner Neil Meron during an emotional event in North Hollywood that saw a slew of A-listers perform on the same stage as high school students.

Oprah Winfrey Joins Tina Turner at 'Tina' Opening on Broadway

Oprah Winfrey links arms with the legendary Tina Turner while heading into the opening night performance of Tina: The Tina Turner Musical on Thursday (November 7) at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York City.

Tina was also joined by her husband Erwin Bach at the event.

More stars who stepped out for the opening included Gayle King, Whoopi Goldberg, Deborah Cox, Martha Stewart, and theater owner/fashion icon Jordan Roth. The Good Fight‘s Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, and Bernadette Peters all attended the event as well!

Tina is a new musical about the life of the entertainer and it stars Tony nominee Adrienne Warren.

FYI: Tina is wearing a Giorgio Armani Privé tulle gown.

Sara Bareilles Takes a Break From Tour for Boyfriend Joe Tippett's Movie Premiere!

Sara Bareilles beams with pride while posing with boyfriend Joe Tippett at the premiere of his movie Patsy & Loretta on Monday (October 7) at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

The Grammy-nominated singer had the night off from her Amidst The Chaos Tour and she traveled to the Big Apple to be by Joe‘s side on his big night.

Sara was also there to support the film’s star Jessie Mueller, who she worked with on the musical Waitress, which she wrote. Joe also starred in the show!

Bernadette Peters and Victor Garber were at the event to support producer Neil Meron. Also in attendance was actress Marin Ireland.

Renee Zellweger & Finn Wittrock Strike a Pose at 'Judy' NYC Screening

Renee Zellweger and Finn Wittrock team up for a special screening of their new movie Judy!

The co-stars, ages, 50 and 34, respectively, attended the event – hosted by Harry Connick Jr. – at Crosby Street Hotel Screening Room on Monday (September 23) in New York City.

They were joined by Mozart in the Jungle‘s Bernadette Peters, Younger‘s Michael Urie, The View‘s Rosie Perez, The SopranosAnnabella Sciorra, The Intern‘s Max von Essen and Celia Weston, actresses Jessie Mueller, Adrienne Warren, and Amber Gray, and Harry‘s daughters Georgia Tatum Connick and Charlotte Connick.

In Judy, legendary performer Judy Garland arrives in London in the winter of 1968 to perform a series of sold-out concerts. Don’t miss it when it hits theaters on September 27!

Baz Luhrmann Gets Lots of Celeb Support at 'Moulin Rouge' Broadway Opening!

Baz Luhrmann steps out for the opening night performance of Broadway’s Moulin Rouge musical on Thursday (July 25) at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City.

The 56-year-old filmmaker, who wrote and directed the film version, was joined at the event by his wife Catherine Martin, as well as Vogue‘s Anna Wintour and her daughter Bee Shaffer.

Baz and Catherine are credited by the production for their “creative services.”

More stars in attendance at the event included Billy Eichner, Lin-Manuel Miranda, John Mulaney, Gloria Estefan and husband Emilio, as well as Broadway stars Stephanie Styles, Bernadette Peters, Ariana DeBose, Nick Adams, Jessica Vosk, and Steven Pasquale, plus producer Jordan Roth.
