Dakota Fanning to Star in Showtime's 'Ripley' TV Series!

Dakota Fanning is taking on yet another new role!

The 27-year-old actress will star in Showtime’s Ripley, a drama based on Patricia Highsmith’s quintet of Tom Ripley novels, TVLine reported Thursday (March 11).

Fleabag star Andrew Scott will play the title role in the adaptation.

Here’s a plot summary: the show will “follow Tom Ripley as a grifter scraping by in early 1960s New York. When Tom is hired by a wealthy businessman to travel to Italy and try to convince the man’s vagabond son to return home, his acceptance of the job ‘is the first step into a complex life of deceit.’”

Dakota will play Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy who suspects that Tom’s affability hides darker motives. Johnny Flynn joins as Dickie Greenleaf.

Dakota Fanning is the perfect choice to play the deliciously complicated Marge opposite Andrew Scott’s Tom Ripley. She’s an actor that brings smarts and vulnerability to every part, with so much bubbling beneath the surface. We can’t wait to see her sink her teeth into this role in Steve Zaillian’s Ripley,” Showtime’s Amy Israel said.

Production starts in Italy later in 2021.

A few days prior, it was revealed that Dakota also has a new role in another Showtime show!

In the movie, Ruth will play Mona Juul, a Norwegian foreign minister and Andrew is Terje Rød-Larsen, a sociologist and Mona’s husband.

The cast of Oslo also includes Salim Dau, Waleed Zuaiter, Jeff Wilbusch, Igal Naor, Dov Glickman, Rotem Kainan, Itzik Cohen, Tobias Zilliacus and Sasson Gabai.

This will be the second team up for Ruth and Andrew, who also star in His Dark Materials.

Lily James & Andrew Scott to Star in 'Pursuit of Love' Limited Series for Amazon!

Lily James and Andrew Scott are set to star in the upcoming limited series The Pursuit of Love, which will be a joint venture between Amazon and BBC One.

Emily Mortimer will write and direct the three-episode series, which is an adaptation of the novel by Nancy Mitford.

The Pursuit of Love is set in Europe between the two World Wars and “follows Linda Radlett (Lily James) and her best friend and cousin Fanny Logan (Emily Beecham),” according to Variety.

The synopsis continues, “Consumed by a desire for love and marriage, the two women are on the hunt for the ideal husband. Their friendship is put to the test as Fanny settles for a steady life and Linda decides to follow her heart, to increasingly wild and outrageous places.”

Joining Lily and Andrew in the starry cast are Emily, as well as Dominic West, Dolly Wells, and Beattie Edmondson.

“I’ve always loved Nancy Mitford so when I was asked to adapt ‘The Pursuit of Love’ it was impossible to say no,” Emily said in a statement. “It’s an outrageously funny and honest story, whose central character – the wild, love-addicted Linda Radlett – still reads as a radical. I feel privileged to be directing this show and working with the brilliant teams at Open Book, Moonage Pictures, Amazon Studios and the BBC.”

Filming has begun in the United Kingdom.

Lily was recently spotted on an ice cream date with one of the biggest movie stars in the world!

Fleabag's Phoebe Waller-Bridge & Andrew Scott Will Reunite Again On Screen!

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is set to reunite with Fleabag co-star Andrew Scott for a TV project!

Andrew stars in the HBO series His Dark Materials and he just announced that Phoebe will guest star in season two in a voice role.

Phoebe will be playing his character John Parry’s osprey dæmon Sayan Kötör. Deadline reports that in the world of His Dark Materials, “the bond between person and dæmon is sacred, with the animal representing a physical manifestation of a human soul.”

Andrew says, “What’s beautiful to me about the books is the relationship with the dæmons and, I think this is the first time we are revealing this, but my dæmon is going to be played by someone who is very close to me in my real life: a young performer and writer called Phoebe Waller-Bridge. The relationship is all about companionship, friendship, and loyalty and that’s what I feel about Phoebe in my real life so it’s wonderful that this is happening.”

Season two is expected to premiere later this year.

Last month, Andrew reprised his role as Hot Priest in a mashup with another hit series!
