Aly & AJ just dropped their new album and they went on Reddit on Friday (May 7) to do an Ask Me Anything Q&A with their fans.

The singing duo’s fourth album is titled A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun.

“This was the record we were born to make, and we’re so excited to finally share it with you all,” the sisters said while launching their AMA.

One fan asked Aly & AJ how they met and the sisters had a hilarious response to the question.

Aly & AJ are ready for their new chapter.

The talented sister act revealed the title for their upcoming studio album on Tuesday (March 9), and it’s their first full-length album in 14 years!

The album is called a touch of the beat gets you up on your feet gets you out and then into the sun, and it arrives on May 7.

“It feels like the first time in a weird way, like making a record for the first time. In a bizarre way, it feels like a record that you make as an artist without all of the jaded aspects that come with being an act that has been around for 15-plus years. That’s kind of the exciting part for us with this album is that we weren’t writing this for anyone specifically, we weren’t writing this for radio — we wrote this for us, first and foremost, and our fans,” Aly told People.

They released three albums between 2005 and 2007: Into the Rush, Acoustic Hearts of Winter and Insomniatic, including their newly viral “Potential Breakup Song.”

The duo just dropped the explicit version of their 2007 hit, “Potential Breakup Song,” which features some new, explicit lyrics following the song’s sudden viral success on TikTok in 2020.

One of the most popular lines: “And normally, I would just forget that / Except for the fact it was my birthday, my stupid birthday” has been changed to “my f–king birthday.”

Another big line got a change: “Now all I want is just my stuff back / Do you get that? / Let me repeat that / I want my stuff back” becomes “I want my s–t back.”

Finally, there’s the bridge: “So you better think clearly, clearly, before you nearly, nearly mess up a situation that you’re gonna miss really dearly” becomes “nearly f–k up a situation.”

Aly & AJ are giving their fans what they’ve wanted for years… an explicit version of their smash hit track “Potential Breakup Song.”

Earlier this year, the sisters talked about the song and how they would do it differently today.

“We like the song. I think that we’re proud of it. But I would produce that song a lot differently now when I think about it,” Aly told Us Weekly.

AJ added, “Yeah, same. I would love that song to get, like, a facelift. … I do like revisiting that song live and playing it for our fans. But I agree. I think the way pop music has changed now, we’d reproduce it and make it kind of a whole other thing.”

Aly & AJ are setting the record straight about which of their songs is about Joe Jonas!

The pop duo – Aly Michalka, 31, and AJ Michalka, 29 – made the revelation on Twitter on Wednesday (April 8).

It started earlier this month when YouTuber Elle Mills tweeted photos of AJ and the Jonas Brothers member, 30, who briefly dated when they were younger.

“Ok so you’re telling me that i went 13 years not knowing that one of the greatest songs ever written was about joE JONAS THIS ENTIRE TIME,” Elle wrote, referencing “Potential Breakup Song.”

Fans have guessed that “Potential Breakup Song” is about the Joe, especially with the opening lyrics, “It took too long for you to call back / And normally I would just forget that / Except for the fact it was my birthday / My stupid birthday.” (AJ has revealed on Reddit that she once mailed Joe Jonas a piece of her birthday cake when they were younger: “That’s a true story, oh the joys of being young and in love.”)

“Flattery not Potential,” Aly & AJ responded to the tweet, referring to another track from their 2007 album, Insomniatic.

“I will admit it, if you admit it / It’s harder than we both thought,” they sing on “Flattery.” “It’s easier to fall apart, look where we are / I can forgive it, I can’t forget it / You’ve left me here with all these scars / And you can’t deny the hardest part / I’m not in your arms.”

The pop duo, ages 30 and 28, respectively, shared their music plans on Twitter this week.

“Dear 2020, Oh how we’ve been patiently waiting for your arrival,” they wrote. “In the coming months we will finally begin to make the album of our dreams. It’s been 14 years since we last recorded a collection of music together, so we hope you’ll be kind to us.”

“We know this year has always been in the cards, always been in the stars….it just took a decade,” Aly & AJ added. “Happy New Year!!!!!”

They also shared a great meme, which they captioned, “2020 vibe.” It shows a man asking a woman, “Are you single?” and her reply is, “No, I’m album.” See it here!
