Twitter Reacts to Anthony Hopkins Winning Best Actor Over Chadwick Boseman at Oscars 2021

People are shocked by what just happened during the Best Actor category at the 2021 Oscars.

The producers of the show switched up the order of the awards and had Best Picture as the third-to-last award of the night instead of the final award. Instead, Best Actor was the final award and everyone assumed they were holding the moment to end the evening with a Chadwick Boseman tribute.

Well, Chadwick didn’t win the award… Anthony Hopkins did.

Hopkins, who was not at the event, picked up his second Best Actor win for his work in the movie The Father. Presenter Joaquin Phoenix then accepted the award on his behalf and the show ended right there, incredibly anticlimactically.

Fans on Twitter are not happy with what happened and are calling out the producers for ending the show with this moment.

The 78-year-old actor took the stage at the awards ceremony on Sunday (April 25) to present the award for Best Film Editing.

Before announcing the nominees, Harrison decided to take the time to read the harsh criticism about one of his hit films.

“The opening is too choppy. Why is this voiceover track so terrible? He sounds drugged. Were they all on drugs?” Harrison read. “Deckard at the piano was interminable. Flashback dialogue is confusing, is he listening to a tape? Why do we need a third cut off the egg. The synagogue music is awful, we’ve gotta use Vangelis. Up to Zhora’s death, the movie is deadly dull. This movie gets worse every screening.”

Harrison then revealed that he was reading some of the harsh reviews from his hit 1982 movie Blade Runner!
