Joaquin Phoenix’s Fiancee Rooney Mara Joins Him at ‘Joker’ Venice Premiere!

Joaquin Phoenix is joined by his fiancee Rooney Mara while riding a water taxi to the Joker premiere during the 2019 Venice Film Festival on Saturday (August 31) in Venice, Italy.

The 44-year-old actor and the 34-year-old actress didn't pose for photos together on the red carpet, but there is one adorable shot of Joaquin lovingly staring at Rooney as she poses for photographers.

Joaquin stars as the titular character in the new film and he is getting rave reviews for his work. While audiences at the festival have already seen the movie, the rest of us will have to wait until it hits theaters on October 4.

Also on the red carpet was the film's director Todd Phillips.

The 21-year-old actress and author was joined at the event by her new boyfriend Benjamin Mascolo and they shared a kiss on the red carpet.

"Venice Film Festival with babe," Benjamin wrote on Instagram along with a photo of them on the carpet.

Joaquin Phoenix Tells Venice Press Why He Made ‘Joker’ Movie

Joaquin Phoenix poses with co-star Zazie Beetz and director Todd Phillips while attending a photo call for Joker during the 2019 Venice Film Festival on Saturday (August 31) in Venice, Italy.

The three stars were joined at the event by producer Emma Tillinger Koskoff.

During the press conference, Joaquin talked about why he decided to make the project. He said it was because “we were going to approach it in our own way. I didn’t refer to any past iterations of the character. It just felt like it was our creation.”

“I think what was so attractive is he’s so hard to define and you don’t really want to define him. There were times I would find I was identifying certain parts of his personality and then I would back away from that because I wanted there to remain a kind of mystery. Every day felt like we were discovering new aspects of the character," he added (via Deadline).

Jean Dujardin and Louis Garrel walk the red carpet at the premiere of their new movie J'Accuse during the 2019 Venice Film Festival on Friday (August 30) in Venice, Italy.

The guys were joined at the event by co-star Emmanuelle Seigner, but missing from the event was controversial director Roman Polanski. The Oscar-winning director is still wanted in the U.S. after he admitted to having sex with a minor in 1977.

J'Accuse, which has an English title of An Officer and a Spy, tells the story of a French Jewish army officer (Garrel) who was falsely accused of treason in the late 1800s and the French officer (Dujardin) who risked his life to uncover the truth.

Also in attendance at the event were Vincent Cassel and his wife Tina Kunakey.
