Meghan Markle Supported Naomi Osaka's Decision to Withdraw From the French Open

Meghan Markle lent her support to Naomi Osaka.

The 39-year-old Duchess of Sussex supported the 23-year-old tennis star’s choice to withdraw from the 2021 French Open upon being fined for not doing interviews due to her mental health.

In an essay for Time, Naomi explained how Meghan and a number of celebrities supported her choice.

“I want to thank everyone who supported me. There are too many to name, but I want to start with my family and friends, who have been amazing. There is nothing more important than those relationships. I also want to thank those in the public eye who have supported, encouraged and offered such kind words,” she wrote.

“Michelle Obama, Michael Phelps, Steph Curry, Novak Djokovic, Meghan Markle, to name a few,” she continued.

“Michael Phelps told me that by speaking up I may have saved a life. If that’s true, then it was all worth it.”
