Matt Damon Tears Up During 5-Minute Standing Ovation at 'Stillwater' Cannes Premiere
Matt Damon had an emotional moment at the premiere of his movie Stillwater at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival.
The 50-year-old actor and Oscar-winning writer walked the carpet with the film’s team on Thursday (July 8) in Cannes, France.
Matt was joined by co-stars Abigail Breslin, Camille Cottin, and newcomer Lilou Siauvaud, as well as director Tom McCarthy.
Stillwater follows a father (Damon) who travels from Oklahoma to France to help his estranged daughter (Breslin), who is in prison for a murder she claims she didn’t commit. The film will be released in theaters in the U.S. on July 30.
The movie received a five-minute standing ovation from the Cannes audience and video footage shows Matt tearing up during the emotional moment.
