David Schwimmer Was 'Jealous' of Monkey Marcel on 'Friends,' Animal Trainer Says

David Schwimmer is getting called out.

More than a month after the Friends: The Reunion special on HBO Max, animal trainer Mike Morris is addressing the 54-year-old actor’s comments about working with the monkey Marcel during season one of Friends.

“The monkey didn’t do its job right,” David said during the reunion. He added, “I’d have monkey grubby hands all over. It was just time for Marcel to f*ck off.”

Now in a recent interview with The Sun, Mike is calling out David for his attitude towards working with the monkeys.

“The first couple episodes, David Schwimmer was pretty good with the monkeys,” Mike said. “After that, he seemed to get a little bitter about them being there. It made it harder to work with them.”

He explained, “A five-camera show is hard to work on anyways and if you have an actor that’s not very helpful, it makes it even harder.”

Mike then said that David was “jealous” of all attention Marcel ended up getting from fans.

“The first couple episodes he was pretty friendly with the monkey and after that, the monkey was getting a lot of laughs,” Mike said, “And either it was throwing him off or getting a little jealous.”

Mike went on to say, “[David] still talking ill about the monkey all these years later seems pretty childish to me…I find it despicable for him to still be speaking ill of [the monkey].”
