Chris Harrison Will Reportedly Receive a $9 Million Payout for His 'Bachelor' Exit

New details are emerging about Chris Harrison‘s exit from The Bachelor.

In case you missed it, the longtime host of ABC’s Bachelor Nation franchise has found himself in the middle of a racism controversy this year following comments he made to defend The Bachelor contestant Rachael Kirkconnell‘s past.

Now, a new report has detailed what led up to Chris‘ departure behind the scenes as well as the payout he will receive.

According to Variety, Chris‘ decided to participate in the interview with Rachel Lindsey voluntarily.

Insiders told the outlet that Chris decided to take part in the interview on his own and was never requested by a network or studio publicist to do so.

Additionally, the host will not receive a “mid-range eight-figure payoff and promise to keep his mouth shut,” as was previously reported. Instead, he will receive a payout of approximately $10 million, which is a combination of his $9 million exit settlement and remaining contractual fees.

The sources also added that Chris did not initially realize the wave of backlash his comments had inspired. Rachel said on her podcast in February that he had actually reached out to her via text after their interview saying he “appreciated their conversation.”

He confirmed that he would be leaving the franchise earlier this month.

Last week, it was reported that ABC is taking their time in finding a replacement for the host.
