The Berlin WTA 5000 tournament starts on June 14, which is exactly two weeks before Wimbledon gets underway on June 28.

“We have received notification Naomi Osaka cannot start in Berlin. After consulting her management, she will take a break,” Berlin event organizers said in a statement.

As of right now, Naomi is still set to participate at Wimbledon.

Naomi‘s withdrawal from the competition follows her dropping out of the 2021 French Open last weekend.

“I think now the best thing for the tournament, the other players and my well-being is that I withdraw so that everyone can get back to focusing on the tennis going on in Paris,” she shared in a statement. “I never wanted to be a distraction and I accept that my timing was not ideal and my message could have been clearer.
