Elizabeth Banks To Star & Direct 'Red Queen' Series at Peacock

Elizabeth Banks has signed on not only to star, but also direct a new series based on the YA book series by Victoria Aveyard, “Red Queen”.

According to Deadline, the 47-year-old actress will step in front the camera in a major supporting role in the series, which has landed at Peacock.

Elizabeth will also direct and executive produce the show with husband Max Handelman through their Brownstone Prods.

The series will be co-written by former Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and Victoria.

If you’re unaware, “Red Queen” is set in an alternate near-future America where democracy is replaced by a monarchy led by a group of humans with superpowers who rule with an iron fist over those without powers.

Mare, a fiery young woman born to poverty without powers, is doing the best she can to survive and protect her family when she discovers the unthinkable: She somehow has powers too.

This shocking discovery turns our world upside down and catapults our unlikely hero to become the face of a revolution for the oppressed while searching for the truth behind the greatest mystery of all…how she became so powerful in the first place.

“Red Queen” was very successful and has three sequel novels: “Glass Sword”, “King’s Cage” and “War Storm”.

Elizabeth is also bringing this animated show back to life!
